Lesson plan reflection 2
The most helpful part of the planning process was the objective section, because without
the first step, I wouldn’t have known where to start. Another helpful part was the assessment
section. Having the end in mind made the procedures go more smoothly and in order. By having
these steps, I was able to set up my entire lesson plan in a successful way. During the lesson, I
asked students questions that got them thinking about the importance of conflict in sentences.
For example, I asked them, “Why is conflict important when reading a story or watching a
movie?” By using specific questions, students seemed to be more involved during the discussion.
The end project implemented higher order thinking, because students had to create their own
conversations that answered the questions that went along with conflict in social media. Students
had to critically think about conflict being creative when making their own website. The CSRs fit
in my lesson plan by using conflict as the target goal. If had to change anything about my second
lesson, it would be to be more commanding and to call on students who did not have their hand
raise. Some students struggled to understand what I wanted from them, and I kept choosing the
same students to answer questions. This made other students zone out, and they probably weren’t
benefitting from my lesson during the discussion part of it.

The entire class loved creating their own social media pages. They were creative and
used different ways to present conflict materials. One thing that I should have changed is the
groups, because a lot of students wouldn’t participate like they should have. The group
assignment should have smaller in the size. Considering that the students were grouped in five,
there was not enough work to equally distribute between each student. Some students I observed
with the regular teacher changed their behavior when I was teaching. They were more focused
and enjoyed learning the material when normally they would zone out. Also, there was negative
behavior from students who normally paid attention. I think this is, because they thought they
could get away with goofing off.

The lesson plan is appropriate for the grade level I was teaching. Students in the
classroom use social media daily, therefore relating conflict to real life situations made it easier
for students to learn the material. The sequence of my procedures went accordingly, because I
corrected the mistakes I made from the first lesson plan which made this activity smoother. I
made sure I didn’t give the students too much work. I had more work planned if the students got
finished earlier than expected.

I need practice speaking loud and clear, because my voice is very soft. Students can
easily talk over me if they are talking. Also, I need to get rid of ‘pet phrases,” because I caught
myself saying them during the lesson. My classroom management skills are lacking, because of
my mellow personality. But using the bell to get students attention helped out a lot. The choice
of strategies and activities made it easier for students in the class room. I used different teaching
styles targeted for different learners. For example, I used visuals, group work, and a hand on
activities; therefore all students enjoyed the lesson and had a fair chance at learning the material.
