INTRODUCTION

Now the backing is alternating Am7 and Am6 chords.

This is a classic Dorian sound, so your primary scales here are A Dorian (A B
C D E F# G) and A minor pentatonic (A C D E G).

This is probably the most technically difficult solo in the set. Feodor now
uses hybrid picking (thumbpick plus fingers 1-2-3) to play sweep-style
arpeggios with incredible fluency. In this solo he uses a range of related
shapes on the top four strings, all diatonic 7th arpeggios in A Dorian.
Check out bar 8, for example… starting from the last two notes in bar 7, he
descends through Cmaj7, then ascends through D7, Em7 and Gmaj7. This
kind of pattern would be difficult with regular sweep picking, but the hybrid
approach gives Feodor more mobility and flexibility.
