“THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”
The United States of America borders on Canada to the North and Mexico to the South.
These three countries form North America. The U.S.A. also borders on three bodies of
water: the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico. Also there are five
great lakes to the Northeast: Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario and
Lake Erie.

There are 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska which are the newest states. They are not
connected to the central part of the U.S.A. The population of the United States is
approximately 330 million people. The largest state in population is California. The smallest
is Alaska but it is also the largest in area. The smallest in area is Rhode Island. The oldest
states are along the Atlantic Coast. This area is called New England. New England
consists of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and
Connecticut.

Washington D.C. is the capital. It is located in the District of Columbia which is not part of
any state. The government is a democracy which means that the people have right to vote
for the president and to elect members of the government. The previous president was
Barack Hussein Obama.

He was born on August 4th, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Barack H. Obama is most famous for being
the first African American President of the United States. Barack Obama was the 44th President of
the United States, at age 47. His Vice President is Joseph Biden. His political Party is Democrat, not
Republican. He is married to Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama, and his two daughters are Malia
and Sasha. His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was from Kansas while his father, Barack Obama,
Sr., was born in Kenya, Africa.

Barack grew up in the state of Hawaii as well as Jakarta, a city in Indonesia. Obama ended up
defeating Hillary Clinton in the primaries and then republican candidate John McCain in the general
election to become president. He was inaugurated on January 20, 2009.

The current president of the USA is Donald John Trump (/ˈdɒnəld dʒɒn trʌmp/). He was
born on June 14, 1946). Trump is an American businessman. In June 2015, Trump
announced his candidacy for president as a Republican and quickly emerged as the front-
runner for his party's nomination. His rivals suspended their campaigns in May 2016, and
in July he was formally nominated at the party convention. Trump won the general
election on November 8, 2016, by earning more Electoral College votes
than Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who won the popular vote. Trump started his
presidency in January 20, 2017. At 70 years old, he will be the oldest first-term president.
Trump was born and raised in New York City and received a bachelor's degree in
economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. In 1971 he took control of his
family's real estate and construction firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son, and renamed it “The

2
Trump Organization”. He later expanded the business with other products and activities.
Trump has built office towers, hotels, casinos, golf courses, and other Trump-branded
facilities worldwide. He owned the Miss USA pageants from 1996 to 2015, and has
made cameo appearances in films and television series. From 2004 to 2015, Trump hosted
and co-produced The Apprentice, a reality television series on NBC. He sought the Reform
Party's presidential nomination in 2000, but withdrew before voting began. As of 2016, he
was listed by Forbes as the 336th wealthiest person in the world, and 156th in the United
States, with a net worth of $4.5 billion.
Trump's 2016 presidential campaign received unprecedented media coverage and
international attention. Many of his statements in interviews, on Twitter, and at campaign
rallies have been controversial or false. Several rallies during the primaries were
accompanied by protests.
Trump's platform includes renegotiation of U.S.–China trade deals, opposition to
particular trade agreements such as NAFTA and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, pursuit
of energy independence using all energy sources with opposition to regulations and
agreements aimed at combating climate change such as the Clean Power Plan and
the Paris Agreement, stronger enforcement of immigration laws together with building a
wall along the Mexico–U.S. border, reform of veterans' care, repeal and replacement
of Obamacare, abolition of Common Core education standards, investments in the
country's infrastructure and a simplified tax code with lower rates. Following
the November 2015 Paris attacks, Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslim
immigration, which he later changed to a policy of "extreme vetting" from certain countries
troubled by terrorism.
Donald Trump, as a president of the USA, works and lives in the White house. Even though,
he´d rather live in his own penthouse in New York, which is more luxurious. The first
president was George Washington. The official language is English but more than 40
million people speak Spanish too. There are many immigrants from Latin America living in
the U.S.A.

The national currency is the dollar ($). The principal products of exportation are cars,
minerals, clothing, cattle, food, wine, candies, etc. The U.S.A. has four seasons: spring,
summer, fall (autumn), and winter. The warmest states are the southern states. The
Midwestern states are mostly farmland where they grow wheat, corn, tobacco, potatoes,
and many other vegetables. They also raise cattle for milk and meat.

Millions of Trip Advisor users voted New York, Chicago and Charleston, South Carolina as
the top three destinations in the United States.

3
SOME FAMOUS CITIES ARE:
NEW YORK, NEW YORK: It is the largest city in U.S.A. It has the Statue of Liberty, many

Samsung Group, Hewlett Packard or its abbreviation HP, to mention some.

4
ART IN THE USA

Art, broadly defined, includes creative writing, painting, theater, music, dance, and
many crafts, such as pottery. By this definition of art, people who watch a television
movie are seeing a form of art. Teenagers who play and buy records of popular
music are listening to a form of art. And the millions who read paperback romance
or adventure novels are enjoying art in still another form.

Art is sometimes divided into two kinds, high art and popular art. High art appeals
to a much smaller proportion of the population than popular art, but the number is
large and growing. People who enjoy high art go to the opera and symphony
concerts; they read serious books; they go to serious plays; they keep up with the art
exhibitions at museums and galleries. Popular art is primarily entertainment. Some
TV programs are meant to be watched today and forgotten tomorrow. Other songs
remain popular for such a long time that they become classics. The line between high
and popular art is not always clear, however. Many people believe that rock music,
for example, is a real art form. Many movies are also taken seriously, while others
are dismissed as nothing more than entertainment.

Another distinction in art is between the professional and the amateur. A

professional tries to make a living by working in art, while an amateur paints, or
plays the piano just for pleasure. Museums, adult education centers, and private
teachers offer a large variety of courses for amateur artists. Selling supplies for all
the different art hobbies is also a good business nowadays.

Successful movies and TV programs make huge amounts of money, and so do the
performers who appear in them. A few big hits can make a rock musician a
millionaire in a very short time. High art, however, has serious financial problems.
It cost more to put an opera, concert, or a ballet than the sale of tickets can bring in.
Men and women interested in high art are always asked to give money to make
future performances possible. Small government subsidies have also helped to
support the arts in the last few years.

5
AGRICULTURE IN THE USA

As the population of the world keeps on growing, it gets more and more difficult to
feed everyone. The United States is one of the lucky countries because it grows
enough food for itself and still has enough to export to other parts of the world. One
reason for this is that the United States is a large country with variety of climates.
Most of the central part of the country is especially suitable for raising grain. Wheat
and corn are the most important crops of the region. The United States export
millions of tons of grain every year. Wheat is used to make bread, a basic food
throughout the world. Most of the corn is used to feed animals, which in turn
become food themselves.

The southern part of the United States has a warm, damp, climate. It grows cotton,
rice, and sugar. Florida specializes in fruit and vegetables. It is famous for its
oranges, lemons and grapefruit. Florida has warm weather all year round, so it can
provide vegetables for the rest of the country in the middle of winter. Even when it
is snowing in New York, people there can still eat fresh tomatoes and green
vegetables that have been shipped north from Florida.

The Southwest, on the other hand, has a dry climate. By means of irrigation,
however, it grows the same crops as Florida. California is also famous for its grapes
and the wines that are made from them. Cattle for beef are also raised throughout
the western part of the country. Beef is rich in protein, which is necessary for good
health. Around the big cities in the Northeast, cows are raised to provide milk,
butter, and cheese.

In the past, the United States was a nation of farmers. Most of the farms were large
enough for one family to take care of. They were usually between 100 and 200 acres
(40 to 80 hectares) in size. Nowadays, however, business methods have been applied
to U.S. agriculture. Chemicals help to keep the soil rich, and machines do a great
deal of the hard work. Nevertheless, hand labor is still necessary for picking many
fruits and vegetables. Migrant workers go from place to place to pick the crops that
are ripe. They make up an agricultural labor force, while management consists of
farm owners and managers. Today, many of them have college degrees and operate
farms like corporations. As a result, fewer people now turn out more agricultural
products than ever before.

6
MEDICINE AND HEALTH CARE IN THE USA

Medicine, one of the traditional professions, is a big business in the United States
today. In fact, medicine is only one part of a giant industry that goes under the name
of health care. It includes hospitals, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, insurance
companies, and government agencies. It employs not only doctors and dentists but
also nurses, lab technicians, hospital orderlies, and thousands of office workers. The
annual cost to the U.S. public runs into billions of dollars. Some of this is paid by
private or government health insurance plans, but the rest comes out of the pocket
of average person.

Many men and women have a checkup every year to make sure that they are
healthy. The checkup consists of a series of test for the eyes, heart, lungs, and so on.
Many of these tests are done by machine. Nowadays, some people prefer to have
their checkups at a clinic, an office where several doctors practice. The clinic employs
a number of nurses and technicians. In the case of a serious illness, the patient enters
a hospital.

One reason for group practice is that medicine has become more and more
specialized. A pediatrician, for example, deals with babies and young children; a
gynecologist is concerned with the medical problems of women; an ophthalmologist
treats only the eyes. In a hospital, a surgeon performs operations, and an anesthetist
administers the drug that stops the patient’s pain, nurses also specialize. Some assist
surgeons, and others deal with children or old people.

The companies that make medicines are another important part of the health care
business. The U.S. Public spends over ten billion dollars annually on pills and other
remedies. Some medicines can be obtained only with a doctor’s prescription, but
others are sold over the counter. If you don’t eat properly, you can take vitamin pill;
if you have a headache, you can take an aspirin; if you have a cold, there are
hundreds of different remedies that you can try. You can hardly get away from
health care advertising in the United States today – for medicines or medical
insurance plans or places where you can exercise your way to good health.

7
GOVERNMENT IN THE USA
There are three levels of government in the United States. At the bottom are local
governments – towns and cities, for example. Above them are the governments of the fifty
states. And at the top is the federal government, which represents the entire nation. In the
present century, government in the United States has become a very large and complex
business. This is true not only at the federal level but at the state and local levels as well.

The federal government is divided into three branches. One of them is a legislative, which
makes the laws for the country. The second is the judicial branch – the judges and the courts
that decide cases under the laws. The third branch is the executive, which carries out the
laws and the policies of the government. The president the highest official of the country is
responsible for administering the laws and for recommending new ones. The president is
also commander in chief of the armed forces - the army, navy and air force. It is the executive
branch of the government that has grown to such huge size in recent times. When people
talk about the federal “bureaucracy”, they are generally referring to the executive branch. It
consists of dozens of different bureaus and agencies and departments. For example, there is
one that collects taxes, another which handles foreign affairs, and still another that deals
whit transportation. There are so many that the list could be continued for several pages.

The president, the vice-president, and the members of Congress are elected. Cabinet
members and Supreme Court justices are appointed. These men and women at the top of
the government are often lawyers. Most of the other government employees – and their
number runs into the millions – are hired on the basis of merit under Civil Services
regulations. Applicants have to pass examinations to fill vacant government jobs. When
they get the jobs, however, they have a great deal of security. It is very difficult to fire a Civil
Service employee. The state governments are small copies of the federal government, with
their own legislatures, courts, judges, and executive bureaucracy.

Government employees serve the public in many ways. They not only make and administer
the laws, but they also deliver the mail, clean the streets, control traffic, and carry out many
other jobs that are vital in a modern society. Outside the government, there are many other
people who work for institutions that serve the public such as private hospitals and schools.
All these millions of people both inside and outside government can say that they are public
servants.

8
MERCHANDISING IN THE USA
Since town and cities first came into existence, they have been market centers. In some towns
there were open air markets where farmers could come and exchange their crops for cloth,
pottery, and other articles that they needed. The temporary stalls that merchants set up soon
became permanent stores where the merchants could display their merchandise throughout
the year. Most stores specialized in one kind of products were close together on the same
street or in the same corner of the market.

There are still millions of stores that specialized in only one kind of merchandise. Some
stores sell only books or record; some sell only men’s or women’s clothing; others sell only
appliances or kitchen equipment. Nowadays, however, there are also department stores that
carry everything that people need in the way of furniture, clothing, appliances and dozens
of other products. Department stores provide their customers with the convenience of
finding all this merchandize under one roof. Supermarkets are another example of the recent
trend toward one-stop shopping. People used to have to go first to the butcher, then to the
baker; and so on to buy all the food that they needed. Now they can get all kinds of food at
just one place. In suburban areas, the automobile has brought another kind of market into
existence, the shopping center. Several stores that can take care of almost every need are
located together. But the most important feature of the typical shopping center is the
parking lot that surrounds it.

All this activity of buying and selling is called merchandising. There two different kinds of
merchandising, wholesale and retail. The wholesale merchant buys goods form
manufactures and sells them to the retail merchant, who then sells them to the general
public. There is a very large number of products available today. The retail merchant would
not be able to keep up with all of them without the services that the wholesale merchant
provides.

The customer would not be able to keep up with all the products either without advertising.
Advertising plays a vital part in a modern merchandising. The manufacturers tell the public
about their new products, and the stores tell the public about what products are available
at what prices. Advertisements appear in newspapers, magazines, and television every day
of the week. In addition, many more advertisements are mailed directly to customer’s
homes. This enormous business of merchandising employs millions of white-collar workers,
from clerks in the stores to top executives in the big department stores and the advertising
agencies. For most clerks the salaries are low, but they are among the highest in the United
States for top executives.

9
MANUFACTURING IN THE USA
An automobile is really a consumer product; that is, it is made for people to use directly; it
is not used to produce other products. A car is, of course, one of the biggest and most
expensive of all consumer products. It is often said that houses and cars are two most
expensive purchases people make in their lives. A car is a very complex piece of machinery.
It consists of thousands of parts that must all work together. These parts are made in many
different factories. The spark plugs; for example, may be made in one place and the
carburetor in another. All these parts are finally brought to one place to be assembled,
producing a car that will go out and join millions of others on the highways.

The factories where this work is done are called assembly plants. In these plants, conveyor
belts bring the work to the workers. Each person on the assembly line usually works on only
one part of the car. First the frame is put together. The, as e the car moves along the assembly
line, other parts are added. After the cars are fully assembled, they are shipped to dealers
all over the country.

The assembly line technique is a part of process called mass production. Though mass
production, manufactures can make numbers of the same product quickly and cheaply to
the public. Thousands of products from pencils to airplanes are mass-produced in the world
today. The high standard of living that so many people enjoy today is due in a large part to
the wide availability of mass-produced products.

Millions of blue-collar workers are employed in factories in the United States. Some of the
factories are large; an automobile plant may cover hundreds of acres and employ thousands
of people. Others are very small; many garment industry workshops in New York, for
example, have only twenty or thirty workers. More than four million factory workers in the
United States belong to labor unions. The unions have helped many blue-collar workers. In
addition, they have usually obtained health care and vacation benefits for their members.

10
PROFESSIONS IN THE USA
Medicine, law, and theology are known as the learned professions. That is, they require
special study at the university and level beyond. Doctors, for example, do not begin to
specialize in medicine until they have already finished four year of college, maybe here in
Guatemala five or more. After that they must go to the medical school for another four years.
Even then their education is not complete

because they must serve as inters in a hospital for at least another year.

Although the traditional professions are medicine, law, teaching, and theology, other
occupations are also considered to be professions because to the amount of education
required and because to specialization. A dentist used to be a barber who pulled the teeth.
Nowadays, however, dentists have to get university educations similar to those of medical
doctors. Architects, once considered artists or craftsmen, must now study special university
programs. Both modern business practices and modern technology have also increased the
number of professions. Accountant now have professional status because accounting is an
important part of business. Engineering as a profession developed only after the Industrial
Revolution, and science and technology have grown so rapidly that there are now different
specializations within engineering. Civil engineers, for example deal with designing and
building dams, bridges, and other structures, while electrical engineers work whit
generating, distributing, and applying electric power.

Standard to practice almost all the professions are set either by the government or by
professional groups. Medical doctors must pass a state licensing examination and serve as
interns before they set up their own practice. Law school graduates also have pass and
examination in order to become practicing lawyers. In addition, there is an examination to
become a certified public accountant. It takes a long time and a lot of effort to qualify for
any of the professions.

For the men and women who do qualify, the rewards are important. One reward is money,
since members of the professions usually make a very good living. Another reward is
independence, because many professional people practice by themselves. They often
become consultants, giving advice to people or companies about special problems. A third
reward is status-most professional people are looked up to within their communities or even
throughout the country. A fourth reward for many is just the chance to serve others.

11
EDUCATION IN THE USA
Education is one of the biggest and most important jobs of government in the United States.
However, it is task that is carried out by local governments rather than the federal
government. Help from Washington usually comes in the form of money and research.
There are no national educational standards or regulations, as there are in many other
countries. Local areas – states or cities – countries – have keep control over their own school
systems. In spite of local control, school systems throughout the country are very similar. A
child can transfer form a school in a state to a school in another without encountering any
serious difficulty. Different books may be required or different courses may be offered, but
the same basic are taught throughout the country.

The normal school system in the United States consists of six years of elementary school and
six years of high school. In many areas, high school is divided into three years of junior high
school and three of senior. Each school year is called a grade – the ninth grade, for example,
is the last year of junior high school in most localities. In addition, almost all school systems
have a year of kindergarten for children too young for the first grade. Because so many
women work nowadays, a lot of communities have also set up day care centers for
prekindergarten children. Education is compulsory – that is, it is required by law –
everywhere in the country. However, the age at which a child can leave school differs from
place to place. The average throughout the country is about sixteen.

While the curriculum is more or less the same everywhere, the quality of the schools is often
very unequal. Some areas have far more money to spend for each pupil each year. In general,
schools in suburban communities are better that those in either large cities or rural areas. In
addition to public schools, there are a number of private schools. Manu of them are operated
by religious groups. In the public schools, education is free, but the private schools charge
a fee, sometimes a very high one.

The universities are also both public and private. The most famous U.S. universities –
Harvard, Princeton, and Yale, for example – are private, but some of the largest universities
are public. California operates a university system with branches all over the state. The
entire system has more than a hundred thousand students. To teach the millions of students
at all levels of the U.S. educational system, there are two million teachers. In fact, they make
up the largest single group of government employees in the country.

12
TOURISM IN THE USA
Modern means of transportation, communication advertising, and credit have all combine
to create a giant new industry called tourism. Tourism is a service industry. It involves not
selling a product that you can own but providing services on a temporary basis. The
customer receives such things as a sear on an airplane, a room in a hotel, and a chance to sit
on a beach in the sunshine. The customer may be traveling for pleasure, for business, or
many other reasons. Whatever the reason the traveler needs a way to travel and places to
sleep and eat. To take care of these needs, tourism has created millions of jobs in hotels,
restaurants, and transportation companies.

Until modern times, a trio was often a long and difficult adventure. Traveling by horses or
camel or on foot was slow and frequently painful. The roads were usually bad – unpaved
and often dangerous.

Accommodations along the way frequently provide nothing more than a roof and a place
to cook one’s own food. Travel by water was generally a little easier, but ships were slow
and they had to try to avoid storms at sea.

The first development in modern transportation was a steam ship, which could sail against
the wind. Then the railroads came. They carried large numbers of people quickly over long
distances for low fares. More recently, automobiles and airplanes have made travel both
faster and more convenient. A trip across the ocean that would have taken weeks only a
hundred fifty years ago now takes just a few hours. As it became easier for people to go
from one place to another, better accommodations sprang up. At first, hotels were built near
railroad situations in big cities. Then seaside areas that were served by railroads became the
first popular resorts. Since the time of automobiles and airplanes, more and more areas have
been developed as resorts. Hotels have sprung up along tropical beaches or in mountain
areas where people can get away from crowded cities.

Advertising has played a large part in the growth or tourism. When hotels and governments
began to advertise the attractions of different tourist areas, the airlines and other
transportation companies advertised the low fares necessary to reach them. Modern means
of communication were put to work so that travelers could make reservations right away
for a plane seat or a hotel room form a long distances. And they could travel now and pay
later by using their credit cards. All these different elements have been combined to create
the constant movement that has become one of the features of modern life.

Dear uncle Javier:

How are you doing? Do you still travel to Guatemala City every day? Are you still
selling insurances? Are you still living in Jocotenango? Are you still reading legends of
Guatemala? May I send you some tweets on twitter this week?

Moscow is a great City. There are many interesting places to visit like The Red
square, The Kremlin, museums, parks, etc. Living here is very expensive. Rubbles is the
currency. I’m here teaching Spanish to a couple of students, who I met in Guatemala.

Every day I get up at six, take a shower, eat breakfast and teach Spanish from 8 to 1
pm. I have a lunch break. Then I start teaching again from 3 to 6 pm. I eat a light dinner,
watch TV or read a book.

That’s my day! I have to go now. Please say hello to everybody for me. Do you have
another email account? Please give me your whatsapp account, to chat with you on next
days.

Hi teacher Luis:

How are you doing? Are you still teaching English? Are you still on a diet? How are
my classmates? Do you still work every day? Are you on a chat room in a social network?

I’m here in London, this is a nice City. I visited one of the biggest buildings called
Big Ben. It was built in 1853. It has a bell and the clock measures 4 meters and a half, the
Tower Bridge is opened when the boats or ships pass underneath.

Every day is a new adventure; I’m traveling with a couple of friends from France
and so we sometimes try to speak in French. I have a new blog of True Colors in London!

I’m really enjoying the trip, please say hello to everybody for me. Could we talk on
Skype? Which hashtag are you using lately in your company?

Your English student ______________.

Dear cousins:

How are you doing? Are you still studying at college? Do you still travel every
month to Coban? Do you still live in the same house? Are you still playing soccer together?
Are you still sending Instant Messaging (IM) which goes viral on the web?

I’m here in Mexico, this is a nice country. There are many malls, restaurants and
parks. Televisa Net Work Studios are in Mexico D.F. too. It’s famous because of its soup
operas, reality shows, and beautiful beaches like Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
Mexico also has wonderful main cities like Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico D.F.
respectively. Yesterday we visited the children’s museum, we really enjoyed it.

I get up early to take a shower, eat breakfast and rush to school, teaching English
from 8 to 1 pm. Then I eat lunch at 2 pm. After that, I prepare my classes for the next day.
Every afternoon I play basketball with a couple of friends that I have met here. Then I come
back home, watch TV and take a shower.

Are you usually making some comments on Facebook and uploading some memes!? I am
working on an App for Android and another one for Apple. I also built some well-known
web pages. I also have a channel on YouTube. If you want to be subscribed with me, please,
remember, give me “like”.

That’s my day! I have to go now. Say hello to everybody for me.

Dear Mom:

How are you? Are you still taking your medicine? Do you still sell cosmetics? Do
you still watch soup operas every afternoon? Are you still studying cooking classes on
YouTube? Are you still getting an upgraded IPhone every year?

I’m here in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. It is a big city. Yesterday I visited “The
Atomium” which is the symbol of atomic structure.

Every day I get up at seven o’clock, take a shower and eat a light breakfast, and then
I take French classes from 9 to 1 pm. Then I eat lunch at 2:30; and after that I rest for a while,
I go shopping and come back home, prepare dinner, watch TV and sleep.

Say hello to my dad. Is he still running to become the next president of Guatemala?
Are you ready to be the First Lady of the nation? Say no to Ipads and Iphones, change to
Samsung! 

That’s my day! Say hello to everybody for me.

My dear darling!

Hi, honey! How are you? I really miss you! Every day I think about you! Are you still
working this month? Are you still planning to visit me? Do you still run every day?

Switzerland is a great country, the origin of Red Cross was in Geneva and now it’s
the biggest NGO organization. Nestle is one of the largest companies here. The Nestle
Company is worth in 50 billion dollars.

Every day I get up at seven, take a shower, eat breakfast and rush to school, which
starts at 8:30 and ends at 1:00 pm. We learn how to cook and I really enjoy it. At the end of
the class we share the food.

After the cooking class we learn some German vocabulary and rest. Yesterday we
ate dinner together in a typical restaurant.

Did you install Snapchat in your smartphone? Could you do it? ‘Cause despite the
obvious naughty uses, there are plenty of perfectly legitimate reasons why you might want
to give Snapchat a whirl, and they all center on this social app’s near-perfect ability to give
you a wealth of control over the privacy of the pictures and videos you send to your friends
and me. Snapchat has become so popular, so fast that more than 200 million snaps are being
shared per day. You’ll be happy to know that you’ll be able to set up Snapchat on iOS or
Android nearly as quickly as you can say “selfie.”

That’s my day! Say hello to everybody for me, especially to your dad, my dear future
father-in-law. Just kidding!

Kisses and hugs,

Dear Mrs. Jackson:

The news about Mr. Jackson really shocked those of us who have been lucky enough

ever known; in addition to making his classes interesting he was always patient and fair.
All of us considered him a real friend as well as a great teacher. It was a privilege to know
him.

I just wanted to tell you how much I respect and admired Mr. Jackson, and to express my
