Clytemnestra- Daughter of Leda and Tyndareus

➔ When Agamemnon comes back from the war she kills him. She waited
until he was in the bath, then entangled him in a cloth and stabbed him
to death.
➔ Her reasoning for killing him was
a. To avenge her daughter’s death
b. To be with Aegisthus, the man she truly loved
c. Agent for the curse on Agamemnon’s family
➔ Then she is killed by her son in revenge for her father’s murder

So why is this important?

- At the start of the play, we see Angelina as Clytemnestra. Amelia

and Angelina say “I will cut down Agamemnon and any who stand
in my way!” this is a literal reference to what Clytemnestra did.
- Both Angelina and Clytemnestra killed their husbands
- Both Pietro and Agamemnon threated to/ did kill one of their
children
- Ameilia also says “Here lies Agamemnon… who was my husband”
this further shows the connection between Angelina and Pietro to
Clytemnestra and Agamemnon.
