The beauty of nature always attracts every couple of eyes to enjoy the vibes and explore its
beauty. Well, It can be found in Bali. Bali is a small island in Indonesia which serves your soul
with various kind of beautiful places. Even though there are more than 17.000 island in
Indonesia, Bali still shines the brightest in term of tourism. There are lots of stunning beaches,
magical temple, volcanic mountain, adorable tropical weather and many more. Besides, Balinese
strong culture also become a spotlight to attract the visitors come to Bali. Being one of the most
visited destinations in the world, Bali offers a huge opportunity for everyone to build and ream
their business related to the tourism field. Travel and tour business is one of tourism business
that reliable to promote tourism destination in Bali. This kind of business aims to help visitors to
accommodate their trip around Bali. Travel business is a business which accommodates the
visitors with the transportations such as picking up from the airport/hotel and drops the visitors
to the destination itself. So how about tour business? Tour agency provides the visitors with a
trip plan including the guide. The guide will accompany the visitors along the trip and give some
information about the destination places. So tour and travel business help the visitors in picking
up, dropping by and providing the visitors with a trip plan including the guide. Hence, as tourism

1. Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina

Lovina is one of the most visited destinations in North Bali which offers the experience to see
amazing dolphins and the beach. Seeing this golden opportunity, Komang Redite built a tour
services agency called Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina to accommodate the visitors to explore
Lovina. Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina is located in Kalibukbuk village. The exact location is
in Lovina beach, 100 meters to the east from Dolphin statue. Bali Surya Tour Services manages
by local people, he is Mr. Komang Redite as a owner and the manager. Bali Surya Tour Services
cooperates with Kencana Travel in giving a service to the visitors. Kencana Travel itself only
focuses on the shuttle business in accommodating the visitors with transportation (picking up and
dropping the visitors). However, Kencana Shuttle does not accommodate the guests with tour
plan, meaning that there is no tour services provided.

Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina accommodates the visitors with the transportation and the trip
plan around Lovina. However, if the guests ask the manager to have a tour outside Lovina, Bali
Surya does not provide it but if the guest asks to drop her/him outsides Lovina area, the driver
will drive the guests outside Lovina without a tour services. Bali Surya itself is built to wait on a
cheap guest, it means that this tour services only serve four low budget visitors.

Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina has a motto in treating the guests. Its motto is that serve the
guests as a family. That is why in one day, it only takes and serve 3-4 guests on tour. This tour
agency will treat the guest around Lovina as a family. It is different with the other big tour and
travel agency who can take lots of guests in one tour. The customer of this agency are mostly
come from Europe, specifically come from Holland, Prance and Germany.

2. Staffs

Bali Surya Travel has 4 drivers and a manager who handle all the customers. Bali Surya Travel
accommodates a trip plan around Lovina beach and also guiding the customers’ trip. The
followings are the duties of the manager and the drivers.

Manager

Komang Redite, as the owner and the manager of Bali Surya Travel and Kencana Tour are
responsible to receive the customers and help customers to arrange their trip plan around Lovina
beach, the manager also directly guiding customers or send a driver to handle the customers. In
Kencana Tour, the manager has the same duties in Bali Surya Travel, he receives the customers
and send a driver to handle the customers. Sometimes, he also directly serve the customer to pick
and drop the customer to the destination.
Drivers

Bali Surya Travel has 4 drivers to serve the customers. The 4 drivers’ duties are receiving a call
from the manager to handle the customers and serve the customers. In Kencana Tour, they have
180 drivers and a manager which is the manager from Bali Surya Travel, Komang Redite. The
drivers’ duties are receiving a call from the manager and pick and drop them to their destination.

3. How to get the Customer?

Now the questions is that how Bali Surya Tour gets its customers or the guest? The first is this
tour agency gets the customer from its websites called balisuryalovina@gmail.com, whatsapp,
phone calls and the customer can also come directly to his office which open at 08.00 am – 10.00
am. So the customer can choose those ways to reach the tour agency to go to around Lovina.

The other customers come from Kencana shuttle. As what mentioned above that Bali Surya
cooperates with Kencana shuttle which means that the customers also comes from Kencana
shuttle. First, the hotel or the other instance will contact Kencana shuttle to pick and drop their
guest at the airport or the other places then if the guest wants to have a tour in the Lovina so
Kencana shuttle will contact Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina to handle the plan tour around
Lovina Kencana shuttle which works on picking up and dropping the guest. So, the manager
itself will plan the tour around Lovina and also the manager itself will accompany the guest as a
tour guide.

Bali Surya Tour and Services doesn’t cooperate with the other tour and travel agency because
this agency is only a small tour services which serve only small amount of guests, it is about 3-4
guest every day. The reason why Surya Bali Tour Services Lovina is because by handling 3-4
guest in every tour trip, the manager can handles and treats the guest as a family. So if the
manager handle lots of guest at the same time, the agent worry that he cannot control and treat
the guest as family. The guests mostly come from Europe specially come from Holland, Prance
and Germany. Besides, many customers come in April-December, however during January until
March, there only a little guests come to Lovina to do Tour Trip.

4. Language Features and Language Function

Hence, one of the most vital aspects of Tourism sector is the communication between the people
associated with this business and the tourists. A good command over the English language is
regarded as an asset for a person associated with the tourism industry. A good communication
plays an important role in creating impression in the minds of the tourists through its non-verbal
aspects i.e. sights and sounds as well as the verbal aspect of communication i.e. language which
is the most natural link among people. It is so obvious to see that the use of language or the
language feature used in the tourism field is a bit different with the general English because it is
more specific field.

As it known that Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina is not built as big company or it can be said
that this agency is a independent agency which only consisted of the owner as well as the
manager and the guide and has four active drivers. According to our observation in this agency,
Komang Redite as the owner, manager as well as the guide told that in communicating the
language, the grammar pattern becomes not really important in communicating the language
because the point of communication itself is that the language can be understood by speaker and
listener. This is also encouraged by the customer who did the reservation in this travel agency.
The customers are mostly coming from Europe who they don’t really fluent in speaking English.
They don’t really focused on the grammar used in communicating the language itself. so it
makes the guide do really focused on the grammar used as long as the conversation is being
understood by the speaker and hearer. There are four drivers in Bali Surya Tour Services Lovina
and the entire drivers are able to speak English even though that they are not good in Grammar.

As we know that being a guide so we should know some vocabularies related to the area,
knowledge/awareness on the area, people, culture, historical knowledge/significance of tourist
locations, skill to handle tourists, skill to understand the tourist requirements and etc. So the

Mr. Richard: This is my first time to visit this place Komang. I want to go around and I think I
need a guide. Would you like to be my tour guide, Komang?

Komang: Yes, of course Mr. Richard. It’s my pleasure to be your tour guide. I knew this place
very well. I have been working as a tour guide in here since 2000. I will accompany you to go
around.

Mr. Richard: Oh, thank you very much Komang. How much should I pay for your assistance?

Komang: You just have to spend 15 dollars Mr. Richard.

Mr. Richard: Okay no problem. Please give me your best Komang

Komang: So Lovian beach offers you with a beautiful sand and beach. It also provide the guest
with the Dolphin show that can be watched in the morning.

Mr. Richard: Wow, It sounds awesome. Please take me to watch the Dolphins.

Mr. Richard: So, is this beach is used to praying places? Because I see no one is praying now.

Komang: it has own ceremony celebration. The Balinese people usually come to pray on the
full moon

Mr. Richard: Oh, I see. What a unique culture, Made. Okay, let’s move to another place.

Komang: Okay Mr. Richard
