Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

Passing the Praxis Core Exam is a big step in your teaching career in order to earn

you teaching license. So, it requires a lot of studying to know the material that’s on the

test, in order to get into the Education program at UNLV, NSC or UNR. Passing scores

for the Praxis are Math (150), Reading (156) and Writing (162).

Exam Preparation

I wasn’t really prepared as I thought when it came to take the practice exam, I

assumed that it was going to an easy test. The math, reading and writing section wouldn’t

be too hard because we do the same thing now when it comes to homework and taken test

for our classes. But when it came to look at the questions and going through the test, I

have a lot to review and practice because half of the math question I don’t remember, and

writing isn’t my strong suit. This test opened my eyes completely that I have a lot of

work to do, the websites helped to get an understanding of the questions they asked and

best how to answer them.

Exam Results

The results of my praxis exam were not good at all each test said I need

significant improvement whish is a bad thing. Test scores of the test are Reading (21%),

Math (36%) and Writing (28%). All the sections I need to do better in because those will
not get by in me getting my teacher license, the test made me feel not smart that’s the

lowest I ever received on a test.

Future Exam Preparation

While looking for information the praxis test, they had a lot of ways to prepare

for the official test so you can pass the first time around. There were flash cards you order

that have random questions and some definition terms. I think I would do the book and

online course just to get a different perspective on the test, also to make my brain have

different ways of retaining information about the test. A study group would be another

way to understand the praxis exam and how other come up with answers to better

understand the questions. To be better prepared for the exam official exam I would do at

15- 20 hours a week until it was time to take it.
