CHARACTER ANALYSIS

CLAUDE FROLLO:
He is the bright and compassionate priest at Notre Dame. When he
adopts and raises Quasimodo, the deformed and orphaned infant that
nobody wants, it just proves of kindness in his heart. He tries to mold
Quasimodo in being a scholar just like his beloved brother was by
teaching him how to read and write. As a religious leader, Frollo
becomes obsessed with La Esmeralda; the charming gypsy street
dancer. Because of his obsession with La Esmeralda he was able to
forsake God and use black magic. He was very determined to have La
Esmeralda that he tries to kidnap her by forcing Quasimodo to help
with the attack. Gringoire see what's going on, Frollo flees, leaving
Quasimodo to be captured for attempted kidnapping. The hunchback
is going to be whipped for his wrong doing; and Frollo pretends not to
know him and declines to go to his aid. When he learns that La
Esmeralda is inlove with Phoebus; he stab Phoebus and run away
that’s why La Esmeralda is arrested for the crime and is sentence to die
by hanging. When Quasimodo rescues La Esmeralda, Frollo finds out
that they are staying at the Cathedral, he tries to get in. Frollo kills
Esmeralda which makes Quasimodo mad and he pushes Frollo off the
balcony to his death. Frollo does many wrong doings like when he
stabs Phoebus, betrays Quasimodo and attacks La Esmeralda that
leads to her death which are very scary. The very fact that he is a
priest yet he didn’t even feel guilty at all with his villainous actions and
acts like a devil himself, I realize that obsession is never and will never
be a good thing.
