Standard 4 content knowledge, shows that the teacher understands the central concepts, tools of
inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches, particularly as they relate to the
Common Core Standards and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and creates
learning experiences that make these aspects of the discipline accessible and meaningful for
learners to assure mastery of the content. I am placing my PLC presentation under standard 4 of
content knowledge because it stimulates learner reflection on prior content knowledge, links new
concepts to familiar concepts, and makes connections to learners’ experiences. This was
represented in my presentation because we used topics that college students either know about or
face but we used it to teach them about things that they didn’t know. We used various methods to
teach our topic and we were able to assess what the students learned through a jeopardy that was
created to see how much the students learned and were able to remember.
