William John’s pizza Business Challenges

Aditya Jain, Akansha Batra, Mansi Gundale, Udit Singh , a team of MICA students along with
Sunita Mall took an in-depth interview of Ms.Leena, the owner of Williams John’s Pizza outlet,
South Bopal.
The discussion was broadly on William john’s outlet, Ms. Leena’s journey as an entrepreneur,
current customer base and the efforts to attract customers, strategies taken to attract and retain the
customers, Promotional activities both online and offline, the innovations in business, challenges,
business expansion etc.
When the question was asked on business challenges, Ms. Leena said that the challenges has to be
there and always a part of business as every businessperson wants more footfalls and growth on
regular basis.
However, there are some external and some internal challenges. Location of the outlet is one of
the big challenges, I think, as we are unable to attract the road customers, the customers who knows
about it, mostly come. Employee retention is another big challenge, she is currently facing.
Because of the high cost of hiring and training new employees, Ms Leena would like to ensure that
they retain highly qualified workers.
To resolve the internal challenge of employee attrition, the students need to understand the reasons
of employee attrition, what category( designation) employees are leaving without a longer stay, if
the employee attrition rate is same across all William’s John’s outlet( 13 are there in Ahmedabad)
etc.
The students started the project with first objective of understanding if the attrition rate is similar
across outlets. For this purpose, they selected three William John’s outlet: in Maninagar, Vastrapur
and South Bopal. They collected data about the Ex-employees and how long they worked for the
outlet (in months) for each of these outlets.
Their objective is to check whether any significant difference exists among the three outlets as far
as employee attrition is concerned.
