Air Quality
● The air quality in Atlanta is fairly
good as of today with an average of
28.
● The dominant pollutant of the air in
Atlanta is Ozone.
● To keep the air quality good, we
should bike to work and enjoy more
outside activities.
Water
● The water in from Atlanta comes
from the Chattahoochee River,
Lake Lanier, and Lake Allatoona.
● There are many clean water Atlanta
projects and capital improvement
projects led by Atlanta water shed
to improve our city.
● The Metro Atlanta water district
relies almost entirely on surface
water.
Land Use
● Neighborhoods, educational
institutions, malls, restaurants, and
sports facilities take up much of the
land in Atlanta.
● 1.27% of land is vacant
● Many parks take up land
downtown.
Transportation
● Many people ride MARTA, Atlanta’s
transit system.
● Atlanta StreetCar, Atlanta’s newest
mean of transportation. The Atlanta
Streetcar operates on a 2.7 mile
loop from the convention and
entertainment district to the sweet
Auburn area.
● Car
● Walking or biking
Energy
● Atlanta plans to be 100% green by
2035.
● Atlanta plans to become renewable
fo fight climate control.
● Many use solar panels as their
source for energy.
● The electricity that make Atlanta
run comes mostly from coal, natural
gas, and nuclear energy.
Food & Agriculture
● Most people come to Atlanta for their wings, for which
the city is most known for.
● Atlanta has many famous food restaurants such as
Busy Bee Cafe and Mary Mac’s Tea Room.
● Georgia is home to 680 food processing companies
and 50,000 farms: together these account for $26
billion in GDP.
● The value of Georgia's agriculture production
reached $14.1 billion in 2014.
● Georgia has 9.4 million acres of agricultural land.
● Vegetable production is a $1.7 billion business in
Georgia.
Green Buildings
● Green building refers to both a structure and the
application of processes that are
environmentally responsible and
resource-efficient throughout a building's
life-cycle: from planning to design, construction,
operation, maintenance, renovation, and
demolition.
● The Atlanta City Hall and the Emory Conference
Center Hotel are both green buildings.
● According to the AJC, Atlanta is racing for the
No.1 spot in the nation for the greenest office
markets.
Waste
● The Atlanta office of Solid waste
Services plans on making Atlanta a
vibrant place to work and live.
● Atlanta has a problem with either
throwing trash out of the windows
while driving or dropping their trash
while walking on the streets.
● Being that Atlanta has a lot of
waste, the office of solid waste
promises to maintain a clean, safe,
and thriving area for its citizens.
● Almost every citzen has recycling
bins.
Public Health
● Metro Atlanta is a healthy place
when compared to the rest of the
state.
● Atlanta is referred to as the “Public
Health Capital of the world”.
● Atlanta is also home to the U.S
Centers for Disease Control and
prevention (CDC)
