Key Recommendations

❖ Efforts to limit climate crisis with meaningful and effective actions by G20 members.
❖ Evidence-based Policy recommendations. Using the results of science-based studies and evidence for policy
development.
❖ The Blue Economy concept should focus on innovation, environmentally friendly technology and maximum
utilization of raw materials. Indonesia requires a systematic effort to improve the production process of capture
fisheries and aquaculture to downstream with a pro-zero waste approach.
❖ EcoNusa encourages the implementation of an inclusive Blue Economy in the context of involving local
communities, indigenous peoples and small fishermen in fisheries management in the future. The
involvement of community is very important to ensure inclusiveness in the collaborative process of saving the coastal and
small island environment.
❖ Today's fishing practices which lead to an increase in PNBP must be handled with great care. The fisheries sector must
be managed sustainably and supported by environmentally friendly innovations, to be in line with the goals of
saving coastal and small islands.
❖ Protect Locally Managed Marine Areas-LMMA/Local Management-based Marine Areas, promote capture
fisheries regulatory framework in LLMA such as: regulate minimum standard of fish size to be harvested and
prohibited fishing gear, prohibit fishing in certain fishing areas and limit on fishing trips.
❖ Support optimal harvesting strategy, robust monitoring, surveillance, & substantial engagement with
community and stakeholders to tackle IUU Fishing, reduce post-harvest losses that occur in artisanal fisheries,
strengthen law enforcement, monitor fish stocks and fishing quotas at WPP level and provide up-to-date fish stock data.
