Private Lesson Late Cancellation and Make-up Policy

At least twenty four hours notice is required for cancellation of a private lesson. Private lessons
cancelled within twenty four hours are subject to a cancellation fee (at maximum, the full cost of
the cancelled lesson), at the sole discretion of the Teaching Artist. Exceptions can be made for
illnesses and reasonable emergencies, at the sole discretion of the Teaching Artist. In the event

that a change in time and/or date (rather than cancellation) is amenable to both the
Teaching Artist and student, the late cancellation fee may be waived.

Private Lesson Practice Expectations

In addition to learning important techniques and guiding a student’s musical discovery, music
lessons are largely an avenue for students to learn tools and repertoire to take back to their own
practicing between lessons. Practicing music is essential. Practicing music is paramount.
Based on age, interest, and physical capability, different practice formats are needed for
different students. The role of a Teaching Artist should be to ensure that the information
gleaned by a student in a lesson is reinforced in their practice and that a healthy pace is
maintained between lessons. Therefore, it is expected and required that students follow a
practice regimen refined by their Teaching Artist and provide feedback about its efficacy, when
possible.
