MEDICAL TOURISM:
For decades, the term “medical tourism” conjured 2 distinctly different images:

• The affluent traveling to tropical destinations for elective surgeries.

• Individuals crossing borders to find care that wasn’t available close to home.
WHY MEDICAL TOURISM?

• Well- trained health practitioners.

• Competitive cost of medical treatment.
• Large populace of fluent linguistic doctors and medical staff.
• Involvement of insurance agencies.
• Tax benefits by Govt.in tertiary care.
• Chandriani also reckons that the fad of luxury hospitals in the country will eventually die
down. “What people want is good care. The focus should be on offering patient-friendly
practices and a home-like environment ,he says.
But in a country where opulence is a way of life, luxury might just end up being a
parameter for good hospital care.

• Rising incomes, greater health awareness, lifestyle diseases & increasing insurance penetration
will contribute to growth.
