The Background and its Setting

Media is the collective communication outlets or tools that are used to store and

deliver information or data. Communication channel through which news, entertainment,

education, data, or promotional messages are disseminated. Media includes every

broadcasting and narrowcasting medium such as: newspaper, magazine, television,

radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and internet.

According to Ballano (2015) media piracy in the Philippines and Vietnam has

started in 1990’s with the rise of digital technologies using the CD, DVD, VCD discs

which replaced the analogy technologies of the Betamax and VHS cassettes tapes.

Pirated discs recorded, copyrighted song, films or software with a price often ten times

cheaper than the original copies, become widely accessible and affordable to millions of

people of southeast Asia region. Media piracy has been called global scourge,

international plague, nirvana for criminals, but it is probably better as a global pricing

problem.

According to PNP chief Senior supt. William Macavinta (2014) the main reason

behind persistent piracy violation in the country is the public General lack of awareness

and more importantly the consequence of such violations.

 However, many people think that software piracy is not issue they believe in the

freedom of information and expression. They also hold the idea that reproduction and

distribution of software is a part of fair use within copyright Law. The cybercrime

prevention Act of 2012 (cybercrime law) Filipinos can be punished for buying bootlegs

or downloading videos, music and other copyrighted files. Software piracy cannot be

protected by first amendment because the first amendment does not cover illegal

activities. Software, developers, distributers all ultimately end users are all hurt by

piracy.

The arguments continue that since the software is buggy, it’s really not a crime to

distribute faulty product.

In the modern day piracy incidents that occurred around the world between 1998

and 2007. The data encompass detailed information on the location, timing and success

attack. However, we find document significant learning by doing and skill accumulation

among the pirates that have helped modern piracy evolved into a more potent threat:

there aren’t many papers in the economics literatures that focus on maritime piracy, and

empirical work on the topic scant. Modern pirates are different from historical

Modern pirates today make used of modern technology that are available to them

the used of modern methods in technology has shifted that the character of piracy

making them precise and effective operation rather than acts which happened by

chance.

 This very serious problem and more so for a country like Philippines. The

establishments of an international tribunal on piracy will be a very important in having

such a tribunal will show to modern pirate that international community is united and is

serious combating piracy.

The additional of technology to the classroom can help transform the classroom

experience from a classic teacher centered one into student taking a more active role in

their learning the teacher becomes a more a guide as the student engage with and

tackled the day lesson. And there is nothing better than seeing your student fully

engages it is important to understand that integrating technology into the classroom is

by no means a replacement for an effective teacher.

Nowadays, technology infiltrates every aspect of our lives, proponents for digital

device learning assert that greater access to advancing technology within the education

systems allows to teachers to more fluidly support to satisfy common core state

standards through engaging digital curriculum, environment for their student. Software

can be thought of as the variable part of a computer and hardware the invariable part.

Organized information in the form of operating system, utilities programs, and

application that enable to computer to work. Software consist of carefully-organized

instructions and code written by programmers in any of various special computer

languages. Software is divided commonly into two main categories: (1) system

software: controls the basic function of computers and come usually preinstalled with

wants to perform, such as accounting, communicating, data processing, word

processing.

Often generic software is used where there is a package available that meets the

users. Because it is used by many more people the cost of creating it is spread over a

greater number of people or organization and so the cost to the individual is much

lower. It also has the advantage that available immediately there’s no waiting time

involved while the software package is designed, created and tested. Bespoke software

has advantage that it can be tailor made to exact specification, but it is significantly

more expensive and will take time to create.

However, genuine windows will undoubtedly become interested by spyware, rook

its, viruses, under normal use, all you have to software eventually, all you have to do is

pop in a music CD from Sony or visit a malicious website using internet explorer.

software. Software piracy causes significant lost revenue for publishers, which in turn

result in higher prices for the consumers and it is applies mainly to full function

commercial software. The time-limited or function restricted version of pirated since they

are freely available.

Similarly, freeware, a type of software that is copyrighted freely distributed at no

change also offer little incentive piracy.

Piracy is a big issue with the advent of much chinches web 2.0 while there was for the

longest time piracy related to computers, it seems limited at first to computer software

itself. Then it spread to music and video games, the into pretty match anything that

could be digital. There exist an extensive for the manufactures in policy market.

Piracy is an authorized copying or distribution of copyrighted software. Software

piracy can be done by copying downloading, sharing, selling, or installing multiples

copies of software into personal on work computers.

Statement of the problem

This study will access to the knowledge of all student in LupiIligan National High

School 2017-2018 about Anti-piracy Movement, the study will answer the following;

1.) What is the demographical of the respondents in terms of

Parent’s Occupation

2.) What is the knowledge of respondents about software manipulation and

installations?

3.) What is the common type of software is installed in the respondents’ gadget?

4.) What are the reasons of the respondents for using pirated software?

5.) What are the risk associated in using pirated software?

Scope and Delimitation

This study is limited only for the student of LupiIligan National High School in

Lupi school year 2017-2018. Their age ranges from 16-18 years old only.

The study will examine to the LupiIligan National High School Student to their

knowledge about Anti-piracy Movement.

Significance of the Study

The significance of our study is to inform the student like us what are the

disadvantage of using software piracy, we want you to know it is still better to use

genuine software rather than software piracy.

the population of those people who use pirated software.
