Appropriations is a refereed journal of research with the ISSN 0975-1521 published in the month of

December, every year by the Dept. of English (UG & PG), Bankura Christian College, Bankura, West

Bengal, India. The first issue of the journal was brought out in the year 2005 and since then four

subsequent issues have been published. Appropriations acts as a literary organ of the Dept of Enlish

Wesleyan Journal of Research

The Wesleyan Journal of Research is a multi-disciplinary, international, refereed, journal with the ISSN

0975-1386, published annually by Bankura Christian College. It was the cohesive, integrated force of

the entire teaching staff that helped the college in realizing a long-cherished dream of publishing a

quality research journal of its own. The journal appeared in the academic circle on June 29, 2008, the

Foundation Day of the college. On the 29th day of June, 1903, the Wesleyan Mission College was

established in Bankura (now in the state of West Bengal), India, with a lot of potential. The name of

the college changed subsequently. Bankura Christian College as the name stands today was

established under the aegis of the founder Principal, Rev. J. Mitchell. The name of the journal is a

tribute to the Wesleyan Methodist missionaries, the key factor in the establishment of this 106 year

old college.

Lokāyata: Journal of Positive Philosophy

Lokāyata: Journal of Positive Philosophy (ISSN 2249-8389) is a bi-annual interdisciplinary journal

of the Center for Positive Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Studies (CPPIS). The name Lokāyata can be

traced to Kautilya’s Arthashastra, which refers to three ānvīkṣikīs (logical philosophies), Yoga,

Samkhya and Lokāyata. Lokāyata here still refers to logical debate (disputatio, “criticism”) in general

and not to a materialist doctrine in particular. The objectives of the journal are to encourage new

thinking on concepts and theoretical frameworks in the disciplines of humanities and social sciences to

disseminate such new ideas and research papers (with strong emphasis on modern implications of

philosophy) which have broad relevance in society in general and man’s life in particular. The Centre

will publish two issues of the journal every year. Each regular issue of the journal will contain full-

length papers, discussions and comments, book reviews, information on new books and other relevant

academic information. Each issue will contain about 100 Pages.

The Journal of Religious Studies is a biannual Journal devoted to the study and understanding of the

religious traditions of the world. It includes articles of high academic standard dealing with historical,

About the Department:

The establishment of Guru Gobind Singh Department of Religious Studies at the Punjabi in 1967 was a

unique and significant venture in the history of higher education in India. It was in the year of the

Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh’s birth tercentenary that plans were drawn to institute the

Department which received the willing approval of UGC as also of the Punjab Government. The main

objectives were: to provide facilities for advanced research, understanding of world religions,

systematic and scientific study through academic channels such as inter-religious dialogues, seminars,

extension lectures and publications of books etc. University

Panjab University Research Journal (Arts) PURJA, earlier known as Panjab University Research Bulletin

(Arts) PURBA, is the mother journal of Panjab University, Chandigarh (India), started in early 1950s.

It is a bi-annual journal of international repute and only publishes research

papers/articles/reviews/survey papers, duly assessed and reviewed by a panel of experts. It is

exclusively devoted to the publication of original research papers/articles/reviews of a very high

standard in various disciplines of humanities, languages and arts. One of the objectives of this journal

is to create a forum for the transmission and exchange of ideas among the scholars within the country

and outside. Though most of the time, the journal focusses upon the theoretical issues of wider

contemporary relevance in the specified areas, occasionally, it also announces special issues drawing

attention toward well-defined thematic areas in humanities, languages and arts in general. This

journal seeks to propagate and stimulate philosophical, critical and interpretative dialogue across the

national and international frontiers. For this reason, we look forward to receiving contributions from
