ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am grateful to their great support and help all throughout the project. I
am thankful to them for taking out time and pointing out the multitudinous
aspects of Training & Development and helping me increase my learning out of
the project.
I would heartily thank all the respondents of the survey without whose support
& valuable inputs this project would not have been completed.

PREFACE
The game of economy has new rules, Firms should be fast and
responsive. This requires responding to customer’s needs for quality,
variety, customization, convenience and timeliness. Meeting these
new standards requires a workforce that is technically trained in all
respects. It requires people who are capable of analyzing and solving
job related problems, working cooperatively in teams and ‘changing
hats’ and shifting from job to job as well. Training & development
program has increased in importance in today’s environment where
jobs are complex and change rapidly. Companies that pay lip-service
to the need for training, by lazily setting aside a few hours a year, will
soon find themselves at the receiving end when talented employees
leave in frustration and other employees find it difficult to beat rivals
with new products, sophisticated designs and improved ways of
selling. To survive and flourish in the present day corporate-jungle,
companies should invest time and money in upgrading the knowledge
and skills of their employees constantly. For any company that stops
injecting itself with intelligence is going to die.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The training project research was carried out for a period of 2months wherein I had tried to
find out the Effectiveness of the training provided to the executives. Every employees have
their own perception and learning, by analyzing the responses given by them I have given
some suggestions.
Question were mainly structured in the form of YES or NO, and rating questions were used,
barriers and enablers after attending the training program was also asked in the questionnaire.
Before making the final questionnaire testing of the questionnaire was also done which help
in knowing the problem faced by the respondents i.e. may be some questions were not clearly
Following are some criteria which were taken into consideration while designing the
questionnaire:-
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH DESIGN
“The research design is the arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of data in
a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in
procedure.” In fact Research design is the conceptual structure within which the research is
conducted; it constitutes the blueprint for the collection, measurement and analysis of data.
11
EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH:
True experimental design provides a stronger and more reliable basis for the existence of
casual relationship between variables. Here, the researcher is able to eliminate all extraneous
variables from the experimental and the control group through the use of a random selection
procedure. One of the advantages of using random selection procedure is that we can use
inferential statistical techniques for the analysis of experimental results. One such technique
is the analysis of variance. The following experimental designs will be discussed in this
section. Experimental research is guided by hypotheses (or several hypotheses) that states an
or disconfirm this experimental hypothesis. For instance, much of this author's research has
been involved with the physiological effects of step training with and without hand weights.

DATA COLLECTION
The survey was based on the Primary and Secondary data. The subject i.e. the effectiveness
of training given to the executives of the organization were given a set of questions in the
Primary Data: -
Secondary Data: -
Secondary data includes information from NTPC manuals, website of NTPC (ntpc.co.in),
Sampling: -
Random Sampling has been used in the survey. Sample size of 50 was taken. The survey was
conducted at the corporate office of NTPC located at Dadri The employees were given
various questions to answer in the form of Questionnaire. By putting an effort, I was able to
LIMITATIONS
Due to the shortage of the time only sample size of 50 had been taken, which is not
very large.
Employees at NTPC were very busy: sometimes many of the employees were not
interested in training.
Training Session Should not to be long ,long session should be spilt up into
modules.
11
The main limitation faced while conducting the research was the availability of the
faculty members at the training institute of NTPC i.e., PMI. It was very difficult to
be able to meet them personally, since most of them were busy with the hectic
training schedule

thermal power generation and the second most efficient in terms of capacity utilization
NTPC's core business is engineering, construction and operation of power generating plants
and also providing consultancy to power utilities in India and abroad. As on date the installed
capacity of NTPC is 24,249MW through its 13 coal based (19,980 MW), 7 Gas based (3,955
MW) and 3 Joint Venture Projects (314 MW). NTPC acquired 50% equity of the SAIL Power
Supply Corporation Ltd. (SPSCL). This Joint venture Company operates the captive power
plants of Durgapur (120 MW), Rourkela (120 MW) and Bhilai (74MW). NTPC is also
