Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organising Committee and IAPSM HP Chapter we welcome you

to the 1st International Conference of HP Chapter & 46th National Conference of Indian
Association of Preventive & Social Medicine from 7th to 10th March 2019 to be held at
Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India.
This four day Scientific meet will include CME, Plenary Sessions, Orations and
Scientific sessions. We are going to have prominent speakers from across the world. The
aim is to have ample time for discussions, deliver the best scientific material and provide
clear cut carry home messages. To encourage our young scientists, we are planning two
brain storming sessions:
1. The role of young public health professionals towards fulfilling the targets
set under Ayushman Bharat through Universal Health Coverage by innovations and
changes in the health system.
2. The role of younger members of IAPSM in strengthening IAPSM.
With your support, we are determined to make this conference a huge success.
The members of IAPSM Himachal Chapter will not leave any stone unturned to make it a
very memorable event. The preparations have already begun. We are waiting to
welcome you to this memorable event. Please mark 7th to 10th March 2019 on your

The former summer capital of the British in India,
and the present capital of Himachal Pradesh,
Shimla has been blessed with all the natural
bounties which one can think of. It has got a
scenic location, surrounded by green hills with

accompanied by the structures made during the
colonial era creates an aura which is very different
from other hills. This amalgamation of the world in
this queen of Hills leaves everybody spellbound.

Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla

Himachal Pradesh Medical College at Shimla
(HPMC) was established in the year 1966 with
admissions of 50 students in the first batch and
since then has been providing best medical
teaching to the students of this part of the
country. It was renamed Indira Gandhi Medical
College in 1984. Admission facility was
increased to 65 in 1978 and 100 in 2010. The
post Graduate courses were started in 16
disciplines in the year 1981 and has increased to 20 at present.

Department of Community Medicine

Since the inception of the institute, the

Department of Community Medicine (previously
known as Dept. of Preventive & Social Medicine)
has been a key department at IGMC, Shimla.
The Department aims to produce high quality
public health professionals and community
physicians. The department has always
remained a strong pillar in dealing with diseases
of public health importance, especially during
epidemics and outbreaks. The department is credited with successfully conducting various
research works under ICMR, NHM and WHO.
