Greetings from AIIMS, Gorakhpur
We are pleased to invite you to join us for the 9th
National Annual Conference of Consortium Against
Rabies ( CARCON ) being held on 10th and 11th of
December 2021 organized by All India Institute of
Medical Sciences, Gorakhpur.
The scientific sessions, plenary session, research pa-
per presentations, and the presence of experts from
various institutes will provide an excellent network-
ing and platform for all health professionals.
With the concept of one health has changed our ide-
as of looking at the disease. The current strategy
require a massive involvement of various sectors
coming together for rapid elimination of rabies. The
conference looking forward for vibrant and innova-
tive approaches for multisectoral approaches for
elimination of rabies. In view of the current COVID-
19 pandemic the conference is being organized in
purely online mode.

About Gorakhpur
The district Gorakhpur is one of prominent cities
in the eastern Uttar Pradesh. The district Go-
rakhpur takes its name and fame from re-
nowned, ascetic saint ‘Gorakshnath’, an emi-nent
profounder of ‘Nath Sampradaya’. A fa-mous
shrine ‘Gorakhnath’ was built where he practised
austerities. Gorakhpur has its own cultural and
historical importance geograph-ical diversity.
Gorakhpur rose to great emi-nence due to the
historic ‘CHAURI CHAURA’ incident of 4th Feb.
1922, which was a turn-ing -point in the history
of India’s freedom struggle. It is the workplace
of writer Shree Munshi Premchand, mystic
poet Sant Kabirdas, Martyr Pt. Ram Prasad
Bismil and many more. Gorakhpur is also
identified with the Gita Press, the world-famous
publisher of the Hindu religious books.
About AIIMS, Gorakhpur
All India Institute of Medical Sciences
(AIIMS), Gorakhpur is one of the new AIIMS
established as a part of the initiative under
Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna
(PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health and family
welfare, Govt. of India. The institute is situat-
ed with in the heart of the city. The outpa-
tient services and first MBBS Batch admis-
sion was started in 2019. The institute also
started the in-patient services in the 2021.
Apart from this the institute is working in
coordination with state government and
many non government organizations in cur-
ing, controlling and preventing the various
diseases in this reason of Uttar Pradesh.
