What understandings or goals will be assessed through this lesson?

The goal of the lesson is to introduce the
concept of formal “you” commands in Spanish.
Students will learn how to conjugate verbs to
make formal commands as polite requests.
Then, students will conduct research and
collect information about a volunteer
organization.
students will use formal commands learned
at beginning of class and come up with
commands to get people interested or
involved in the organization. Students will
present the information in the form of an
online comic strip. Students will practice the
commands by using them to influence others.

Imperative form to come up with sentences/ commands that would catch the attention of
others. The purpose is to influence others using commands. Students will demonstrate
understanding with creativity, writing, and by creating an avatar that represents them.

What student products and performances will provide evidence of desired understandings?

Students will create a comic strip using an
online platform. Students can demonstrate
performance by talking to others students
and asking clarifying questions to help them
improve the comic strip and sentences.
Students will present their final comic to a
classmate.
Using the comic strip students will must be
able to demonstrate mastery of the use of
formal commands to influence others.
Students must demonstrate how you can
use the commands in short conversations
that they will be typing in a dialogue bubble.

By what criteria will student products and performances be evaluated?
(Informally) Students performance will be
evaluated by peers. Peers will provide
feedback on the comic strip and students
will encourage each other to create a fun or
funny comic strip. Students are motivated
by creativity.
(Formally) Students will have rubric to
follow. Students will self-assess their work.
Then, they will assess another student’s
work by giving points based on the rubric.
Once students have done their evaluations I
will use the same rubric to check if students
understood the rubric and the purpose of
the activity.
