How one should prepare for studying astrology

Any new student of astrology, or even existing ones who have not gone through this process, should
ascertain and compile the following information by observing a native’s chart. A student who prepares
at least a hundred questions would be ready to face some of the challenges posed by a native. The
following provide a very broad guideline and students are advised to be thorough with the concepts of
karakatwa in relation to Rashis, Planets, Aspects, and the nature of positioning of planets in different
rashis. Having taught astrology for a long time, it is my belief that an astute student needs primary
guidance and not spoon-feeding. So, some of the details to be collected, although not exhaustive are
indicated below:

1. Details of the native


a. Name:
b. Date of Birth:
c. Time of Birth:
d. Place of Birth:
e. Has the native relocated?
f. Is the native’s birth place different from his current location?
g. Is he facing any problems? If so, what are they, and why?
2. List the main characteristic of the native: (both from physical observation where possible and
from the chart)
3. How is the native’s personality?
4. Has the native ever been shamed? If so, under what circumstances and by whom?
5. Has the native ever met with an accident in the past? Are there prospects for one in the future?
6. Married Life of the Native
a. Was the native ever in love?
b. Is the native married? If so, when?
c. Does the native have good prospects of a pleasant travel?
d. Was the wedding arranged by family or was it a love marriage?
e. How is the native’s married life? Amicable or not?
f. If not, what kind of problems is the native facing? Since when?
g. Is there any blemish to the native or the spouse’s character?
h. Does the native or the spouse have any diseases?
i. Does the native have multiple spouses now or ever before?
j. Has the native ever been divorced, or separated?
k. Did the wedding happen with the same person with whom the native was in love with?
l. What is the source of family income? Is it from the native or the spouse or both?
7. Details of Children
a. How many children does the native have? Male and/or female?
b. When were they born?
c. Are they at home or away?
d. Have the children progressed?
e. Do any of the children have any diseases?
f. How is the native’s relationship with the children? Good/Bad/Ugly?
8. Does, the native have siblings? If so how many? Male/female? Elder/Younger
9. Does the native have anyone in the household who is unmarried?
10. Does anyone else in the family have any disease or disability?
11. Would anyone else in the household meet with accidents?
12. Details of Mother
a. What are the characteristics of the mother? How is her demeanor?
b. How is the relationship between the native and the mother? Good/bad?
c. Is the mother earning? If, so the source of income
d. Is the mother afflicted with any health conditions? If so, for what reasons?
e. Does the mother possess any property?
f. How is the mother’s education? In what field, if she is educated.
13. Details of Father
a. What are the characteristics of the father? How is his demeanor?
b. How is the native’s relationship with the father? Amiable or Not?
c. Is the father still earning? From what sources?
d. Is the father well-off?
e. Does the father have any diseases? From what reasons and from when?
f. Does the father have inherited or self-earned property?
g. What is the nature of the father’s occupation and in what field?
h. What is the education level of the father?
i. Did the father leave his place of birth and relocate?
14. Details of Native’s wealth
a. Does the native own any immovable property such as land, agricultural fields, house?
b. If there is property, when was that acquired?
c. Does the native possess any movable property such as vehicles, bonds, etc? If so, when
did he acquire them?
d. Is the native facing any disputes in regards to any property? If so, when and how did it
start?
e. Is the native ridden with debts?
f. Who is he indebted to and how much?
g. Is the native well-off? Yes/No
h. When is the native going to well-off? Is it a favorable time now? If not, when?
15. Native’s Education
a. Is there or has there ever been any impediments to education?
b. Are there any obstacles to pursuing education?
c. What is the native’s education level and in what field?
d. Is the native smart/dull/or will be able to learn after facing some difficulties?
16. Native’s Occupation
a. Does the native work or do business? If so, in which field?
b. Does he have employees working for him?
c. If he is not working, when will such a time come?
d. When will the native see a rise on the professional front?
e. Is he facing any impediments in his profession? If so, what kind and when they start?
17. Support to the native
a. Does the native have support from friends and family?
b. Will he be able to obtain support from them and the government?
c. Will the native be able to achieve their goals?
d. What are the causes for discontent, if any?
e. Is there a prospect for the native to travel abroad? If so, will he settle abroad?
f. Are there any prospects for the native’s relatives to reside abroad?
18. Is the native a god fearing person and spiritually dedicated? Yes/No
19. Will there be progress in the Native’s spirituality
20. Is the native interested in politics? Yes/No
21. Is the native into fine arts? Yes/No
22. Is the native suffering from any disease?
