CRITICISM

1.Criticism is generally considered as unfavourable JUDGMENT or EXPRESSION of disapproval.

2.The more precise definition could be the FORMING and EXPRESSING of JUDGMENT(S) about
BAD and GOOD QUALITIES of anything (e.g. presentation, speech, manuscript, performance etc. ).

3. An effective criticism should be based on a CRITERION.

CRITERION (plural. Criterions or criteria): An established STANDARD and/or PRINCIPLE on which a


judgment or decision is BASED.

SOME IMPORTANT POINTS for criticism

1. To describe and provide evidence is significant both in criticism and presentation. Thus it is
important to listen the presentation carefully and understand.
2.You should provide a careful and instructive judgment of the bad and good quality of each
presentation separately.

3. Your critic (critique) should focus on strength and weakness of the presentation. Thus you
could emphasize the strength and weakness of the presentation by referring to your
reasons/criterions.

4. You may start your criticism about a presentation and/or manuscript with the title and
proceed/continue part by part up to conclusion.

5. It is important to know that criticism supports and improves scientific ability .


CREATIVITY & CRITICISM: Creativity and critism are both important in science that is a rational
way of solving problems consists in an interplay between creativity and criticism. Possible
solutions of problems are found by creative imagination and have to be critically examined.
Creativity and criticism are not opposed but complement one another, and their interplay is
essential for any branch of human culture.
