by Sissel Solum, Vice President Communication, Nammo Group

Nammo is celebrating its 10 year anniversary in 2008. I am happy to present a

new Nammo Bulletin with a general update on our business, what Nammo has
achieved in this first decade and what we intend to go for in the next.

Nammo was established in 1998 by merging ammunition companies in Finland,

Sweden and Norway. Although most activities were located in neighbouring
Nordic countries, it was a considerable challenge to align and consolidate the
Group. Today we may conclude that the merger has proven to be very successful,
during the years we have also included additional members in Norway, Germany,
Switzerland and USA. We will continue to develop Nammo as a well recognized
supplier of ammunition, missile products and demilitarization services.

To become a global player also demands increased awareness on an overall

perspective. Nammo is a technology based, customer driven company operating
in an international market regulated by strict export regulations set forth by the
authorities in the countries we operate.

When growing globally with a mixture of cultures, languages and nationalities

within a Group like Nammo it also requires increased attention and awareness
on general Group policies to strengthen and unify the Group and its people.

I wish you all interesting reading and I hope that Nammo Bulletin No.6 gives
you a fresh update of our business, products and technology.

In a restless period of product develop-

ment, all manufacturing steps have been
analyzed over and over. Machines have
been squeezed out to run with more
accuracy, special parts have been de-
signed or their properties have been
improved. Our project team was supported
by Lapua’s and Schönebeck’s best and
most experienced engineers, discussing,
planning and making experiments. Finally,
while describing and defining project
requirements, we realized that we were
already far away from the way we did it
previously. United we succeeded to circle
in several means of measurement. It was
exciting to watch how it developed: during
the past 30 years in ammunition manufac-
turing, mostly everything has been mea-
sured within 1/100 tolerances. Step by step
it came closer even daily now, and finally
we understood that we had to leave this
period behind us and enter a new area. So
we developed new instruments, and after
them also an environment around them,
we are now talking about tolerances of
1/1.000 – and we are still trying to get it
