For your final presentation, you will play the role of a Project Management Team at a well-known
company about to start a major project. You will be responsible for the following items:

1. Choose a well-known company and a real or imaginary business project. The project could be the
introduction of a new product or service, the creation of a website, a software launch, or any
other type of business initiative that would require a project management team to form and
oversee the project.
2. Prepare a one-page description of the company and a one-page description of the project. In the

Company description:

Movistar is a company that works with emphasis in the telecommunications industry, was
founded on April 25, 1950. It works all over the world and is a leader in telecommunications
reaching the most remote places in each municipality. It is the third largest service provider in
the world, along with China Mobile and vodafone, and currently Movistar Colombia offers three
services to its customers: 3G mobile telephony, digital television, broadband Internet.

Movistar entered Colombia in 2004 as a mobile operator, after purchasing all BellSouth
subsidiaries in Latin America that same year. BellSouth in Colombia integrated the companies
Celumóvil, Celumóvil de la Costa and Cocelco.

With the merger of Telefónica Colombia and Movistar Móviles in 2012, Movistar Colombia
became the largest company in the country in the telecommunications sector without adding
its subsidiaries, controlling the infrastructure of the old Telecom Colombia and offering, in
addition to fixed and mobile telephone services in the municipalities of the country where it has
coverage, commercial, residential and mobile internet services in its cell phones, as well as
satellite television, through Movistar TV.

Movistar invests around 1 billion dollars annually in telecommunications infrastructure,

connects more than 16 million customers and generates more than 24 thousand direct and
indirect jobs.

and cultural action; with Wayra, Telefónica Open Future and Fondo Amerigo to strengthen the
entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country; and with Eleven Paths, the cybersecurity unit.

Project Description:

By 2020 movistar wishes to have expanded its 4G coverage throughout the entire Colombian
territory. This implies modifications in infrastructure, extension of the response capacity of the
servers and installation of new networks to increase the speed at which the information is sent.

All these changes will keep the company at the forefront as a leader in the telecommunications
business. Movistar Colombia is also committed to innovation by bringing to the country
infrastructure 4 and 4.5G.

This project describes the map of steps for the replacement of a DELL server which has a current
load of 97%, which slows 2G and 3G voice communications, leaving no room for the
implementation of 4G microwave equipment.

The new server that is going to be installed will support all the current load consuming 30% of
the installed resources, which leaves 20% of resources for the implementation of the new 4G
antennas, which will allow greater browsing speed to users and decongest the current network.

These new servers guarantee for 5 years to be the fastest in the telecommunications market,
while migrating to 5G networks which will require faster equipment.

At the end of the server update will be delivered a detailed report which contains inventory of
uninstalled equipment with hours of use and remaining useful life, inventory of new equipment
(features, installed power, maximum power, bypass components .... etc) along with the letter of
compliance received.

The project deliverables will be the test reports of the service, report of the installed load,
report of the previous state and the current state, tests of speed and high availability together
with the projected calendar and the executed calendar.
