Flooding.

xls
Tools for a preliminary assessment of coastal problems and solutions

Sheet 1 Storm surge: computation of water level increase near the coast due to wind forces

Sheet 2 Waverunup-overtopping: computation of wave runup and wave overtopping rate for coastal dunes, dikes and seawa

Sheet 3 Wave model shoaling refraction: computation of wave parameters at breakerline based on simple refraction-shoalin

The maximum flood level Dh above MSL (mean Sea Level) can be computed as: Dhtotal=tide level DhT + surge leve

The tide level can be taken from: a) tidal model, b) tidal tables, etc.
The surge level can be taken from: a) flow model, b) historic data c) from Sheet 1 Storm Surge
The wave setup near the shore can be taken from: a) Sheet 2 Column T or b) from Sheet 3 Column Q
The wave runup can be taken from: Sheet 2 Waverunup-overtopping (Column W, X or Y)

If the flood level (tide+surge+wave setup+wave runup) is lower than the crest level: wave overtopping rate can be computed by Sheet

If the flood level (tide+surge+wave runup) is higher than the crest level: wave overwash can be taken computed by Sheet 2 Column AH
