INTRODUCTION

 The development and promotion of tourism sector
can play a vital role in Nepal's overall development.
 Tourism also increases government revenue
 Tourism is the backbone-leading sector for the
economic development of developing countries like
Nepal.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS

This study will tend to find out the answers of the
following questions:

i. What are the major problems and prospects of tourism


in Surkhet?

ii. What is the present status of tourism in Surkhet?

iii. How to develop sustainable tourism in Surkhet?


OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The specific objectives of the study are:

I. To find out the potential prospects of


tourism.
II. To identify the problems of tourism.
III. To examine the economic impact of
tourism.

Focus of study

 Study the trend of tourist arrivals in the country.


 Contribution of tourism sector
 To review the tourism policy in Nepal.

This provided guidelines for development


methodology for the present study.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

METHODOLOGY

 Descriptive type of research design.

 Quantitative as well as Quantitative data.

 Primary as well as secondary data sources.

 Research area Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet.

 Convenient sampling method.

 One sample T test had been used to analyze the data


HYPOTHESIS TESTING

Level of significance is 5 percent i.e. 0.05.

The following hypotheses (one sample t-test) have been tested in this
thesis.

 (H01) There is no improvement in economic status of tourism


entrepreneurs after being involvement in entrepreneurship.

 (H11) There is no improvement in economic status of tourism


entrepreneurs after being involvement in entrepreneurship.

 (H02) There is no improvement in monthly savings after starting


entrepreneurship than before.
 (H12) There is improvement in monthly savings after starting
entrepreneurship than before.
Since p-value is 0.000 (<0.05) at 5 percent level of significance, in both
hypothesis Hence, the null hypothesis is rejected
SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

 Nepal has three major resources built of economy:
agriculture, hydropower and tourism.
 Among them tourism is the key industry which can be
established, promoted and developed with minimum
effort ,investment
 Economic exploitation of this heritage can only be
possible through the development of tourism.
 To develop tourism we must know the problems and
prospects of tourism
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The major limitations of the study are as follows:

I. The data are based on primary and secondary sources.


II. The study covers only economic problems and
prospects of tourism in Birendranagar municipality
of Surkhet District of Nepal.

III. Due to the time constraint, this study may not be


comprehensive.

CHANGE IN MONTHLY INCOME

CONCLUSION

 Tourism industry in Surkhet can be a leading industry
in the Karnali Province and can contribute a lot for the
economic development.

 It has a high potential for adventure tourism, too.


Infrastructures and facilities development should be
given high priority for the Surkhet region for its
development.
RECOMENDATION

 For the promotion of the tourist attraction in Surkhet,
the local tourism agencies should target to the national
tourists too which helps to increase the local economy.

 Information center is the most necessary for the overall


information about the tourism products available in
Surkhet.

 Karnali gateway should be build at the appropriate


place for the tourists to get knowledge about various
tourism places in Karnali Province to make Surkhet a
tourism hub.
