WARNING :
1. CHECK THAT LANDING GEAR GROUND SAFETIES INCLUDING WHEEL CHOCKS ARE
IN POSITION.
2. BEFORE APPLYING OR RELIEVING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM PRESSURE, MAKE
CERTAIN THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE CONTROL SURFACES ARE CLEAR.
3. BEFORE PRESSURIZING HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS, CHECK THAT ALL CONTROLS ARE
SET TO CORRESPOND WITH THE ACTUAL POSITION OF THE SERVICES THEY
OPERATE.
4. BEFORE POWER IS SUPPLIED TO THE AIRCRAFT MAKE CERTAIN THAT
ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS UPON WHICH WORK IS IN PROGRESS ARE ISOLATED.
5. BEFORE PRESSURIZING HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS, MAKE CERTAIN THAT HYDRAULIC
SYSTEM UNDER MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN ISOLATED.
(4) Position safety barriers prohibiting access to gear door travel ranges.
WARNING : MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE DOOR TRAVEL RANGES ARE CLEAR.
WARNING : WHEN DOORS ARE OPEN MAKE CERTAIN THAT SAFETY COLLARS ARE
POSITIONED ON DOOR ACTUATING CYLINDERS.
(6) Depressurize Green hydraulic system (Ref. 29-10-00, P. Block 301) and prohibit its operation by ........
displaying a warning notice.
- on Green hydraulic system ground connectors
- on panel 427VU to prohibit operation of Green electric pumps (ELEC PUMPS pushbutton
switch).
(7) Depressurize Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. 29-10-00, P. Block 301) and prohibit its ........

(10) Jack up aircraft until wheels are clear of ground (Ref. 07-11-00, P. Block 1). .......
(11) Remove the four wheels of the landing gear involved (Ref. 12-37-32,P. Block 1). ........
(12) Remove brake units from landing gear concerned (Ref. 32-42-27, P. Block 401). ........
(14) Disconnect secondary door control rod (6), at its attachment point on main gear leg (1).
(a) Remove and discard cotter pin (4), remove nut (3) and retain washer (2).
(b) Remove spacer (5), bolt (18), disengage control rod (6) and remove bushing (19).
B. REMOVAL: ........
(a) Identify positions of hydraulic lines, disconnect lines and cap open line ends.
(b) Identify positions of electric cables, disconnect cables and cap connectors.
(2) Disconnect system connections between actuating cylinder and main gear leg.
(3) Disconnect actuating cylinder (43) from drag strut (41). .......
(a) Mark and disconnect hydraulic lines at their connections on actuating cylinder.Blank open
line ends and unions.
(e) Remove sealant around the head of bolt (39), end cap (40) and nut (33).
(4) Disconnect locking springs (21) from attachments on lock link assembly (25). .......
(d) Disengage locking springs (21) from lock link assembly (25).
(5) Disconnect brace strut (26) from main gear leg. .......
(g) Remove end caps (28) and remove shaft (29) using extractor F47529.
(i) Fold brace strut and temporarily attach lower arm end fitting to upper arm.
- Temporarily install attaching hardware on brace strut end fitting and protect end fitting
against possible damage.
(6) At bearings, remove rubber coating from parts to be removed using a spatula taking care not to
damage protective finish.
(7) Mark parts coated with Sealant (Material No. 09-001 or No. 09-002).
(8) Gradually depressurize shock absorber leaving a residual pressure of 5 bars (72.52 psi) ........
(Ref. 32-11-13, P. Block 601).
WARNING : BEFORE DISCONNECTING MAIN GEAR LEG FROM WING, MAKE CERTAIN THAT
LEG IS CORRECTLY SECURED TO HANDLING TROLLEY.
- After removal of nut (55) adjust height (Z) of landing gear to enable removal of hinge shaft
(65).
- Rotate hinge shaft (65) to locate position at which hinge shaft (65) is subjected to least load.
- Prior to removing hinge shaft (65) : install support strut and collar on shock absorber
(handling trolley).
- When attaching support strut to torque link/pitch damper attachment,take care not to
overtighten screwjack.
(a) Remove and discard cotter pin (54) and drive out pin (53).
(c) Cut and remove lockwire and remove the two half-seals (51).
(d) Remove hinge shaft (65) equipped with lubrication insert (66) using extractor
98A32104173000. Remove lubrication insert (66) and check condition of seals (52).
Replace seals (52) if necessary.
(h) Maneuver handling trolley to free shock strut eye end fitting from strutural clevis.
Angular displacement required is approximately 23°.
(i) Disengage trunnion (57) from spherical bearing (59) by moving handling trolley towards rear
of the aircraft.
(1) Depreserve replacement landing gear leg by removing external protective coverings.
(2) Remove axle protective sleeve and spacer from landing gear leg and install then on the ........
replacement landing gear leg (Ref. AMM 32-42-27, P. Block 401) Para. 5).
(3) Install replacement landing gear leg on handling trolley (after having withdrawn removed gear
leg).
(6) Clean all parts for installation with Cleaning Agent (Material No. 11-002) and dry with filtered
compressed air.
NOTE : Clean the attachment hardware with Cleaning Agent (Material No. 11-004A) and dry with
filtered compressed air. Apply a light coat of Anti-corrosion Compound (Material No. 05-047)
to the threads of all nuts, screws, bolts and pins.
(7) Check condition of all parts to be installed; replace any damaged parts. .......
D. INSTALLATION: .......
(1) Using the various locating devices on landing gear leg handling trolley,lift and position landing
gear leg for engagement of trunnion. Install grease seal (58) on structural spherical bearing (59).
CAUTION : SPHERICAL BEARING (59) MUST BE POSITIONED WITH GREASE SEAL (58) AT
THE FORWARD SIDE AND BORE GROOVE POSITIONED IN ORDER TO COINCIDE
WITH EXISTING GREASE HOLES IN TRUNNION.
(4) Smear trunnion (57) and spherical bearing (59) contact surfaces with Grease (Material No. 04-
022).
(5) Maneuver handling trolley so that trunnion (57) enters spherical bearing (59).
(6) Remove guiding tool and push home trunnion (57) in spherical bearing (59).
NOTE : Make certain that guiding tool is removed as soon as trunnion (57) is entered into spherical
bearing (59).
(10) Maneuver handling trolley to guide shock strut eye end fitting into structural clevis and align
bores.
(a) Smear hinge shaft bearing surfaces with Grease (Material No. 04-022).
(c) Smear thread of hinge shaft (65) with Grease (Material No. 04-022).
(d) Install nut (55) using hook spanner 98A32104154000. Tighten nut (55) to between 6.8 and
13.6 m.daN (50 and 100 lbf.ft.) taking care to line up shear pin holes in nut (55) and hinge
shaft (65).
NOTE : If hinge shaft (65) is not drilled for installation of two pins (53), remove hinge shaft and
sleeve (68), assemble hinge shaft, sleeve and nut (55) on a bench and TORQUE nut to
between 6.8 and 13.6 m.daN (50 and 100 lbf.ft.); using nut as a guide, drill two holes 4.85
mm diameter through hinge shaft in accessible position for subsequent installation on
aircraft, (several holes can be drilled in hinge shaft (65) provided that a minimum separation
of thirty degrees is respected between two adjacent holes), deburr drilled holes. After drilling
of holes, protect them with Anti-corrosion Compound (Material No. 05-002).
(e) Check that clearance A (Ref. Fig. 403) is between 0.114 mm (0.004 in.) and 0.721 mm
(0.028 in.).
(f) Smear the two pins (53) with Sealant (Material No. 09-024).
(g) Install two pins (53) and safety with cotter pins (54).
(h) Clean the surfaces smeared with Grease (Material No. 04-022). Apply a bead of Sealant
(Material No. 09-024) between the splines of hinge shaft (65) and nut (55) and between
hinge shaft bearing surfaces and hinge shaft (65).
(12) Install the two half-seals (51) on either side of spherical bearing and wirelock. .......
(13) Coat with Sealant (Material No. 09-001 or No. 09-002) the zones identified in the removal
operation.
(16) Connect brace strut (26) to main gear leg. ....... ........
(a) Using handling fixture H21815, position brace strut (26) so as to align shock strut, brace
strut (26) and drag strut (41).
(d) Install nut (31) and TORQUE to between 20.5 and 24 m.daN (151.2 and 177 lbf.ft.). Safety
nut (31) with cotter pin (32).
(17) Connect locking springs (21) to lock link assembly (25). ....... ........
(c) Install nuts (22) and TORQUE to between 2.5 and 4 m.daN (18 and 29 lbf.ft.). Safety nuts
(18) Connect actuating cylinder (43) to drag strut (41). (Ref. Fig. 402). .......
(b) Position actuating cylinder (43) eye end fitting on trunnion (38).
NOTE : Make sure that the tenons of the lubrication insert (36) are correctly engaged in the notches
of the end cap (40).
(g) Install nut (33) and TORQUE to between 12.5 and 16.5 m.daN (92.20 and 121.77 lbf.ft). ....... ........
(i) Apply sealant (Material No. 09-039) around the head of the bolt (39), end cap (40) and nut
(33).
(m) One at a time, remove blanking plugs/caps from hydraulic lines/unions and connect
hydraulic lines.
(19) Connect secondary door control rod (6) at its attachment on main gear leg (1). Grease bushing ........
(19) bore, spacer (5) and bolt (18) with Grease (Material No. 04-004) or (Material No. 04-022).
NOTE : Do not mix Material No. 04-004 with Material No. 04-022.
You can use Material No. 04-022 as an alternative to Material No. 04-004. Clean and
degrease the parts before you use Material No. 04-022.
(a) Install bushing (19) and position rod (6).
NOTE : Bolt (18) shall be installed with threaded portion facing forward.
(c) Install nut (3), TORQUE nut (3) to between 3.5 and 4.1 m.daN (25.81 and 30.28 lbf. ft.) and ....... ........
safety with cotter pin (4).
(20) Connect aircraft system connections at leg and actuating cylinder-to-gear leg attachments. .......
(28) Bleed Normal braking system (Ref. 32-42-00, P. Block 301). .......
(29) Bleed Alternate braking system (Ref. 32-43-00, P. Block 301). .......
(30) Carry out lubrication operations (Ref. 12-22-32, P. Block 1). .......
E. TESTS:
(1) Carry out a functional test of Normal landing gear extension and retraction
....... .......
(Ref. 32-31-00, P. Block 501).
CAUTION : BEFORE TEST, SLOWLY RETRACT LANDING GEAR BY USING LOW HYDRAULIC
FLOW RATE AND THEREBY CHECK CLEARANCE BETWEEN LANDING GEAR AND
ADJACENT STRUCTURE, AND CHECK LANDING GEAR FOR EVIDENCE OF
BINDING OR TENDENCY TO HANG UP.
NOTE : Carefully check all the various components for leakage at initial pressurization and upon
completion of tests.
(2) Carry out a system test of gear retraction inhibition with left and right main gear shock ....... .......

(10) Remove all ground handling and maintenance equipment, standard and special tools, together
with ground power and replenishing equipment all access equipment and miscellaneous items.
