ACTIVITY 1: Warm-up Interaction Timing


Aim: to enhance students’interest
Procedure: The teacher asks the students to catch the paper T → Ss 5 min.

ACTIVITY 2
Aim: To understand common phrases related to everyday life T → Ss 5 min.
Procedure: The teacher asks Ss to look at the pictures 1-4, on Ss → T
page 22, read the texts and match them to the pictures. The Ss →Ss
teacher elicits the meaning of the words in the Check these
words box.
ACTIVITY 3
Aim: To identify the general meaning of simple texts on
familiar topics T → Ss 10 min.
Procedure: Ss listen to the texts while reading them silently Ss →Ss
and decide if the sentences in exercise 2, page 22, are true or Ss → T
false. The teacher checks Ss’answers.
ACTIVITY 4 T → Ss 10 min.
Aim: to gain familiarity with simple cultural elements Ss →Ss
Procedure: In teams, Ss take turns saying the name of a Ss → T
country, showing it on the map. Ss from the opposing team
must name the nationality and the capital city. Each correct
answer is worth one point. The first team to reach ten is the
winner.
ACTIVITY 5 T → Ss 7 min.
Aim: to take part in simple everyday dialogues Ss → T
The teacher asks two Ss to read the example aloud (exercise 4, Ss →Ss
page 23).
Ss choose roles and make similar dialogues in closed pairs.
The teacher asks some pairs to act out the dialogues for the
class.
ACTIVITY 6 T → Ss 10 min.
Aim: to take part in written group projects Ss → Ss
Ss complete the following sentences and present themselves to
the rest of the class (Hi! My name’s…. and I’m……. years
old. I’m from…. I’m…… My favorite school subject is…..).
Then, they stick their answers under their photos in order to
create a class poster.
