It gives me immense pleasure in recommending Jayannth Rangan, a deserving student for his

graduate studies at your esteemed university. He was one of my most inquisitive students. As a
Senior Assistant Professor in the Mechanical department of SASTRA Deemed University,
Thanjavur, India, I have observed Jayannth since the third year of his Bachelor’s Degree
course, wherein I was his teacher, mentor and project guide as well. I was his lecturer for
Resource Management during his 6th semester.
Jayannth demonstrated his understanding abilities, interest towards innovation, technical insight
and management qualities in various instances. His Mini Project project titled “Lean
Manufacturing Implementation on Aluminium Bodies”, was under my guidance. The project
aimed at increasing the production efficiency of well-known mechanical plant, Shanmuga
Precision Forging(SPF). The aluminium body production in SPF was observed to have a very
low production rate. So he focused on applying various lean manufacturing techniques to find
the root cause for this and to provide suggestions to increase its production rate and to also
eliminate all the waste. He had drafted flow charts for the time consuming processes using the
recorded evidence and drawn a few comparison charts and determined the most laborious
process and suggested methods to control it.

Being his mentor for the mini project, gave me an opportunity to observe him more closely. I
was impressed with his qualities of ownership and ability to grasp concepts quickly and
implement them at their best nature. Jayannth is a highly confident person and his high aptitude
for learning new things brings in great value to his works. He is quite ambitious and anxious to
imbibe more of all best things around him.
Apart from being an academically strong student, Jayannth pro-actively participated in various
co-curricular and extracurricular activities. He was a part of various intra-college cultural
festivals organized by the university. He showcased his talent, patience, perseverance,
management skills as well as his brilliant leadership skills as a coordinator for the dance team.
To conclude, I would like to summarize Jayannth as a promising student who is confident and
intelligent. I believe that his ability to carry out independent projects, lead teams is among the
best in his ages. With your most distinguished program, I believe he will further advance his
understandings in the field and gain more valuable experiences in practices. I have no doubt
that he will be a serious and enthusiastic student, and someday a quite successful senior level
manager, who you would be proud to call alumni. Therefore, I strongly recommend him for
admission at your esteemed university, without hesitation and would appreciate your most
favourable considerations to his application.
