The aim of the book is to give knowledge about different learning styles and

how the students' learning styles and learning preferences affect the effectiveness of

their learning. Specifically, researcher took informations from Module 8 of Dyslexia

and Additional Academic Language Learning which addopted for local contexts by

Bulagrian, Czech, English and Welsh Partners. This book reveal the main

characteristics of learning styles which researcher use to gain more information to

elaborate the understanding of Rita and Kenneth Dunn (1993) five categories

(environmental, emotional, sociological, physical and psychological) that can defined

leaners strenghts and preferences in learning who believed that the interactions of

learning occurs differently for everyone. This information then researcher use in

literature review to give an exposure on students learning styles related to teacher in

designing supportive learning environment in the class which can cover up all types

of learning styles.

The book was specifically focused on the circumtances of the EFL teaching in

Japan. The author also stated the EFL trends and the problems happen related to the

English teaching styles that practice in the nation as well. This book also take

consideration on how teacher should do ACT which is analyzing students' learning

styles (A), considering to bridge the gap between students' learning styles and

teacher's teaching styles (C) and teaching learning strategies (T). Furthermore, the

importance of being aware of students' learning styles is also discussed as well as the

importance of teaching learning strategies that related to each other. Researcher take

the two main points that revealed in this book to the introduction section about the

two important factors in learning foreign language which is learning styles and

strategies.

In this book analyze a phenomenon called learning styles which think that in

such effective techniques for each styles. The author concerning the problem of

learning styles versus the productivity and result on how teachers can develop the
relationship between every elements in students' learning style in an innovative and

descriptive manner. Those elements are environmental, emotional, sociological,

physical and psychological since all the elements are realted to each other. So that,

teacher need to pay attention not only to the content knowledge but also the

pedagogical knowledge as well by examining all those elements. The information

later on will be use to give more information in my literature review on how to

designing supportive yet enjoyable learning atmosphere in the class which cover up

all the different students' learning styles.

In second language classroom, author focused on three broad categories of

learning styles such as sensory styles, personality styles and cognitive styles. Sensory

styles which relies on physical channels such as ears, eyes and touch to percieve the

new information. While personality styles focused on individual's behaviour and

cognitive styles which emphasize the thinking process. Researcher use this

information to support the previous theory proposed by by Rita and Kenneth Dunn

regarding to students' learning style which more likely also influenced by all those

three styles.
