DESIGNING PORTFOLIOS

Weekly Report 10 - 10/21 to 10/27

Proper documentation through both digital and paper portfolios help
establish credibility within an individual in any field of study. These portfolios can be
helpful for job searches as it showcases an individual's work and ability to potential
employers. In addition, such portfolios enhance professional brand. This week, I had
the opportunity to design both digital and paper portfolios pertaining to the field of
environmental engineering and my eco-friendly brand. For the digital portfolio, I
began by creating separate pages to organize the information, such as “About Me,”
“Mentorship,” and “Research.” The next steps were adding information and pictures
that reflected my brand and covered each section on the rubric. Likewise, to create
the paper portfolio, I designed branded headings, cover pages, and both the Topic
and Original Work proposal. This will help showcase my brand and work in the field of
environmental engineers to future interviewees and mentors.

Similarly, this week consisted of reflecting and assessing prior interviews and
composing an experimental interview assessment. The interview with Professor
Magnani at Southern Methodist University provided useful information over
seismology and glacial moraines. I then used this information to create an infographic,
highlighting my interest and growth in seismology. This type of assessment was
challenging as it required design and creativity to format icons and text properly.

Next week, the plan is to contact professionals to obtain informational

interviews in the field of environmental engineering and other related fields of science.
