Metallurgical Failure Analysis (MFA)

Based on the type of product and its history, MFA is performed by using the necessary mechanical, non-
destructive and corrosion testing to identify the cause(s) of failure. Standard ASTM G 161 “Guide for
Corrosion-Related Failure Analysis” provides guidance for corrosion or possible corrosion as a causative
factor in a failure analysis.
