Corrosion Loop (CL)

CL represents the common process, corrosion

environment, and materials of construction, and
includes all equipment within that loop
susceptible to the same corrosion/damage
mechanisms and at approximately the same
rates of deterioration. CL development and
review is the most important element of the
risk-based inspection system. Also, the CL is a
useful feature for inspection planning. Effective
inspection and corrosion rate evaluation can be
implemented based on the CL.
