CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY


The company was started in 18 oct, 2010 by Zeenath thajutheen, a young
entrepreneur from Tirupur. It has grown steadily over the years. This success can be
attributed to two factors, one quality and another one is Customer Satisfaction. They
believe in quality as per individual customer taste and requirements. Thajutheen
Mohamed Hasim looks after the marketing and production aspects of Frontier Knitters
Pvt. Ltd. His brother, Mr. Arun, who is involved in the administration and financial
functions of the concern and Mr.Parthi.who looks after in house production, helps
Thajutheen Mohamed Hasim in the functioning of Frontier Knitters Pvt. Ltd.

After entering the European market in 1994, they moved across the Atlantic
and became the best supplier of knitwear items on both sides of the Atlantic. With their
own vertical set-up of infrastructure like sophisticated individual systems for knitting,
collar knitting, brushing, shearing (velour), fabric shrinkage processes and embroidery.
They have four machines in house production units with a capacity of about 20000 / pcs
per day with high quality standards supplying to the stores in U.S, Europe & Canada.

1.2 OBJECTIVES OF COMPANY

 The Objective of this Company is to expand Frontier Knitters Overseas Manufacturing


network by investing in a facility that has been approved by AFAQ-EAQA.

 This facility accommodates 150 factory workers. This Frontier meets all of the Quality
Management System required of ISO9001-2000.

 Their full ownership of this factory has allowed their customers to benefit from the low
labor cost without compromising quality.

 In addition, this expansion has allowed them to take in smaller production without the
fear of those being lost being related to 2nd tier status by facilities outside their direct
control.

1.2 SCOPE OF THE COMPANY

FUNCTIONS OF VERIOUS DEPARTMENT

4.1 PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

The production department is controlled by the manager D Murugan Frontier Knitters


is situated in its own building where the cutting, stitching, checking, ironing and packing process
take under one roof. Knitting, dyeing and printing process are takes in different places. Frontier
Knitters textile has got the state-of-the-art stitching and finishing equipments for maintaining
quality and costing. For transportation and traveling, they have got adequate two wheelers, four
wheelers and heavy vehicles.

4.2 FINANCE DEPARTMENT

The financial department is controlled by the manager “Arun”. The finance


department in textiles takes on a few core roles. Its primary responsibility though is to ensure
that the company optimizes its use of limited financial resources. The finance directors usually
sit on the executive leadership and advices the team on monetary decisions over time, finance
employees track speneling relative to budgets and alert leaders to concerns. A company's finance
department monitors compliance with financial reporting requirements for a public company,
prepares quantaly requirements in line with Securities and exchange standards. For private
companies, finance prepares management reports for use in planning and decision making. In
the finance department the overall production cost of the was established. The sales increment is
also measured in the financial department. The profile and the loss are also measured in the
financial department, the profit and loss accounts are maintained by the corresponding auditors
in the financial department.

4.3 PURCHASE DEPARTMENT

The purchase department is controlled by the manager “S. Bharathi”. The purchasing
department is similar to the sourcing department but the main difference is that the sourcing
department works for sourcing the fabrics alone while the procurement department works for
sourcing the accessories and trims. However, the working procedure is the same. The working is
as follows.

The merchandisers give the tech pack and the BOM (Bill of Materials) for a particular
style to the purchasing department and the concerned person will start the further process and for
costing purposes the in-house price is given like, the cost involved in the production and also the
price involved for a unit involved with respect to the complete procedure involved for its
production. In the process of during the house price, suppose the cost of 100 pieces of button is
Rs.32 then taxes of 2% + 14 of exercise duty + 10% of per unit price is added as the
transportation charges and this all together makes the in-house price (a hidden margin of 5% is
also taken in consideration).

After the order is being confirmed by the buyer the merchandiser will sit with the other
concerned department and then the exact quantity required and the breakup of the trims and
accessories with respect to color. size MOQ etc., will be given by the merchandiser to the
purchasing department in the form of a sheet which is generally followed in the industry for all
the orders irrespective of the buyer.

Once the purchasing department receives this format, then the PO is sent to the concerned
department for accessories and trims. Once the first shot of the raw materials is sent by the
supplier then the lab dips is done and is approved by the buyer.

4.4 SALES DEPARTMENT

Sales department is controlled by the manager "sathishkumar", The primary


objective of marketing to deal with the product at a profit are consoled with activities which are
consoled with activities which cover the desire in the demand the main aim of the department
should be the highest appropriate sales volume at the lower operational cost.

PRICE FIXING

In the office at every month meeting is conducted for the price of the price based on
the fixed price of the company's office also analysis the price in the company sold through export
in main sold of the company.

4.5 HUMAN- RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

The HR department is controlled by the manager "Saravanan" Human resources


strategies play a key role in the development of textile enter prices both in day to-day activities
and long-term objectives. HR is responsible for enhancing the capacity of the sales department in
negotiation and contract management. motivating staff through benefits programs and creating
conditions that facilitate technological advancement. Whether your company operates in the
United States or your subsidiaries in other countries, your human resources strategies should be
designed to meet their objectives. Human resources personnel have to develop programs to train
employees to adapt to new technology that improves production operations in changing garment
market.

4.6 MARKETING DEPARTMENT

The market department is controlled by "manager jungle" The market is derived from
the Latin word “marcatus” which means merchandising, trade or a place where business is
conducted. The term marketing has been defined by a number of scholars in a variety of ways.
Infact there are as many definitions as there are popular scholars in marketing.

5.1 CONCLUSION

My industrial training is at Frontier Knitters Pvt. Ltd Tirupur was a


wonderful experience which helped me to gain knowledge in various
department and manufacturing level of the garment company. I have
gained some practical knowledge and managing techniques. Opted in the
organization. From this training practical knowledge. I very much
Importance the theoretical knowledge. Companies are not easy to
maintain. But a good skill and experience in this field can make the way
for success in the industry field.
