SHOWCASING MY GROWTH

Weekly Report 12- 11/04 to 11/10

Informational interviews help to define a career path and build a network for
future career connections. The Independent Study and Mentorship program helps to
highlight the importance of interviews by building social media platforms and portfolios
to share with other professionals. This past week, I had the opportunity to interview
Jamie Jimenez, a professor from the University of North Texas in the Department of
Biological Sciences. His fascination in conservation of endangered species and the
behavior and distribution of different bird species was intriguing. By defining new
vocabulary and sharing his selected publications, Professor Jimenez provided extensive
information over ecology, zoology, and conservation.

Similarly, this past week consisted of creating a showcase invitation. After careful
consideration for design and analyzing feedback from my peers, I was able to draft an
invitation that showcased my brand and highlighted the necessary information.

Next week, the plan is to take the information from my past interviews and
mentor visits and create a research presentation addressing my growth and
commitment to the field of environmental engineering. Likewise, I plan to begin
research for the Original Work and contact more professionals to obtain informational
interviews in seismology and earthquake studies.
