hence, any similar position, literal or figurative”.
In internet marketing ,a niche is defined as a targeted market,with prospects having

a common need,want or desire.
Before you start creating your product, you need to select a niche with lots of
hungry buyers.You wouldn’t like to create a product in a niche where there are not
many takers of your product.Creating a product without first doing proper niche
research is like playing lottery and expecting to win.
Below are some common niche research techniques.You can apply these
techniques within minutes and all of them are free. In the end ,I have included
some of the evergreen, super hot niches for your convenience. In fact these niches
are so huge that you'll be able to generate substantial amount of income even
though thousands of marketers are competing with you.
Below is the list of top places to do your niche research:
1)Clickbank:
Being the no.1 retailer of the digital products,Clickbank is obviously one of the
best place to do your niche research.It has products in almost all possible
niches.The Clickbank marketplace provides you great opportunity to select a
profitable niche.
In the Clickbank marketplace,the products are listed according to their popularity.

If there are a lot of products in a particular niche,it means there is a big earning
potential in that niche.

How To Determine The Profitability and Earning

Potential of A %iche:
I would advise you to choose your niche in alignation with your interests and
previous experience.For example,you’ll find it easier to succeed in “Health &
Fitness” niche if you have have keen interest in this field,have been a
nutritionist/fitness instructor or have studied medicine .
Similarly you would find it easier to relate to the “Dating” niche if you have some
previous dating experience.Women will generally find it easy to succeed in the
“Cooking,food and recipe” niche.
But………you are entering this industry for moneymaking purpose not for
pursuing some hobby.So you would first like to determine the profitability
and earning potential of the niche you are entering.
This is very important to make the most from your efforts.There are several ways
to determine if a niche is worth entering .There are several ways to determine to do
it.We’ll be discussing here a few of them.

By Looking At The Clickbank Marketplace

Determining the profitability of a niche by looking at Clickbank marketplace is
very easy.
First go to Clickbank marketplace .The link is:

The products in their marketplace are divided in several categories (a great no. of
information “niches” are listed there).You can literally replace the “Category”
with “Niche”.
In this marketplace,the products are,by default, listed according to their

“popularity”. But we’ll be using another parameter called “gravity” to determine
the actual demand for those products.
Gravity is an index that varies according to the no. of unique sales made by
affiliates in the last 60 days.It varies from 0.1-0.9.The most recent sale is
assigned a gravity of 0.9 and it decreases down with each passing day.
A high gravity shows that a lot of affiliates are generating sales and the product is
converting well.Similarily a lot of products in a niche having high gravity means
that the niche carries great moneymaking potential.

Just look at the screenshot below.All of the products listed in the first few pages of
that category ,have very high gravities,meaning the niche presents great
moneymaking opportunity.
For example,I click on the “E-business and E-marketing” link
A total of 2,799 products are listed in this category and a lot of them are
enjoying extremely high gravities.

The same is true for “Health and Fitness” niche……
There are a total of 2,224 products and many of these enjoy very high
gravities.
The “Moderate Potential” niches will be having relatively lower no. of products
and decent gravities.

Take the example of “Home and Garden” niche.There are a total of 1,000 products
listed in this category.
And many of the products enjoy decent gravities.
The low potential niches will generally have fewer products and low gravities.
For example,just isit the “Politics/current events” category.It has only 12 products.

And most of the products have either very poor or zero gravity.
Now it’s obvious that this niche has got “Next-To-Nothing” moneymaking
potential and you’ll not be able to make any significant amount of money ,no
matter how knowledgeable and great writer you are.
In this way,within a few minutes ,you can apply the same exercise to all the
niches and figure out the lucrative ones.

Although,Clickbank is a great marketplace and tons of niches are listed

there,almost all of the niches included there are “Long Term” and it misses on
hundreds of “Short Term” or “Seasonal” niches.
The “Short Term” niches arise from the variations in economic and social sphere.
The “Water for Gas” niche was a classic example of the “Short Term” niche
sprung out from the change in economoic climate.It gained prominence
during the oil crisis and several information products in this niches gained the
highest ever Clickbank gravity(upto that time) during that period.
Another example of such niches is the “Green Products” niche.This one has
recently originated as a result of the growing consciousness towards global
warming and climatic change.
Then there are short term niches that gain prominence during events of global
importance.The example is “Computer TV niche”.The demand for such products
was at its highest during the recent football world cup and many vendors and
affiliates made great amounts of money.
Buzz surrounding popular celebrities and sports personalities may also give
birth to hot new niches and cause a few otherwise hibernating niches to burn
bright for a certain amount of time.For example,the death of Michael Jackson
caused the “Ringtone” niche to become WHITE HOT for the succeeding
couple of months.
In the past couple of years,popular Facebook games like Farmville and mafia wars
have caused niches to sprung after them.Many of the products in these niches have
enjoyed very high gravities.A few months ago,a Farmville product was having
500+ gravity.
The moneymaking potential in the “Seasonal” niches varies during the course of
year and you would need to look beyond Clickbank in order to uncover these
niches and determine their current potential.
For example,in the holiday season just before the new year,a lot of affiliate
marketers make tons of money promoting Amazon products.As a result,the
demand for information products in this niche climbs to it’s highest during
the months of October and %ovember.

In their beginnings,these “Short Term” and seasonal niches are like an unexplored
goldmine.The first mover usually gets away with the lion’s share.Making money in
such niches is much easier,if you recognize them in their early stages.
Clickbank is the best place not only for your niche research but also for gathering
the ideas about content your product will have,it’s pricing, “How to create a cash
pulling sales page”, “How your affiliate page should look like and what the tools it
should have” , “Where to find the JV partners” , “How your competitors ads look
like” and several more things.Lets take a look at each of these points individually.
i)How to generate content ideas looking at your competitors’

sales pages:
At Clickbank marketplace,the products are ranked according to their popularity.So
one thing certain about the most popular products is that they are proven
winners.They have solid content and people like them.You can actually turn this
thing to your advantage.Why reinvent the wheel and play with the risk when you
already know what is working best.
What you have to do is to look at the sales pages of at least 5 top products in the
niche you want to create your product.The standard practice while creating the
sales page is that the merchant enlist the topics(and describes them in brief) that
are covered in the product.You can include some or all of these topics in your
product.To generate content on these topics,you’ll just need to visit article
directories or make a Google search.
ii)How To Fix The Price Of Your Product By Looking At

Your Competitors’ sales letters:
Look at the sale letters of a few products in your niche and you’ll notice one thing
that most of these products fall in a definite price range.Many of these products
will have same(or almost same) price.This gives you an idea about the price of
your product.You would certainly like to keep your price a bit lower from your
competitors in order to attract more prospects.

promotional tools.You can create similar pages yourself or get someone to create
them for you.You would also like to provide those tools to your affiliates too.
v)Where To Find JV Partners:

A successful internet marketer loves his competition.That is the nature of this “info
product” industry.A successful information business is built on the strong
foundations of co-operation,networking and joint ventures.
Just look at the top info marketers,they all have strong friend circles and are always
looking for networking opportunities.So in this industry, competition could prove a
boon for you. Here you make much more money by co-operating with your
competitors than trying to run them down.
List building is a standard practice in most of the niches.So your competitors

should also have their own lists.You can benefit from this most valuable asset by

EzineArticles.com is the no.1 article directory on the internet and it contains
articles in every possible niche out there..Most of these articles are written(Or got

written) by marketers trying to generate sales through their article marketing

efforts.
If a niche is profitable,you’ll find EZA having a lot of articles in that niche(There

aren’t many people who write just for fun).

subcategories listed under that link.

This is a great thing about Ezinearticles.They have already made your job
simple.By clicking on any of the “sub-link”,you can see all the articles on that
topic.

Ezinearticles is a storehouse of information.You’ll find thousands of top quality

articles on any major topic.This is an amazing place for niche selection,finding
content and getting JV partners and affiliates(I’ll explain that in later chapters).
By carefully looking at the no. of articles in every niche,you’ll find that some
niches have more articles than others.This is a clear indication of the relative
profitability of the niche(as most of the articles are written by internet marketers to
either promote their own products or generate affiliate commissions).The niches
which are more profitable,have more articles under them than the less profitable
ones.
3)43things.com:
This is the secret site many top information marketers use for their niche
research.This site has a list of topics on the front page ,which gives you a clear
indication of what people are desperately looking for.You’ll notice that the font
size varies for each tag.The bigger the font,the more popular the topic is.

If you visit this site at short intervals or refresh the page,you’ll notice that some
new tags are taking places of the older ones ,providing you with more topics to
consider.This site is like a free keyword tool,providing you the rough estimation of
the popularity of each topic.

The site introduces itself as:
“43things.com is the world’s largest goal setting community.People here want to:”
You see random tags.The font size varies with the popularity of that topic.I have
highlighted some popular topics.You’ll notice that the most popular topic is
“Travel the world”.I can guess from the font size that thousands of people have set
it as their goal.

Now, “Travel the world” is a broad subject.You will need at least 500 pages to
cover this topic.But what about writing a quick 15 page guide on a popular tourist
destination like Florida.I bet ,it’ll sell like cracks!
The second most discussed topic is “Learn Spanish”.You see,there are millions of
people worldwide interested in learning Spanish.If you already know Spanish then
it’s great otherwise you can pay someone to write a “Learn Spanish” guide.
Again both of the above mentioned topics have potential to generate steady
recurring income for you.The travel enthusiasts will very willingly join your
monthly or bi-weekly membership club for a small amount of fee.You can just
create a small report every month on a popular tourist destination or on some other
travel related topic and provide it to your members for small charge.
In a similar way,you can create a course(text only,audio-video or both) about

learning Spanish and provide it to your customers in monthly installments.
You see,continuity programs win hands down over “One Time Download”
purchases in most of the niches .A prospect is at least five times more likely to buy
a $29.95 per month recurring billing program that delivers the full course over 10
months than the “One Time Payment,Full Download” that sells for $297.
There are some other very popular topics like “Get out of debt”, “Learn to play the
guitar”, “Exercise regularly”, “Be more confident”, “Read more books” , “Stop
biting my nails”, “become less stressed” , “anxiety disorders” and so on.Millions of
people are interested in these subjects.Properly market your short reports and your
bank balance will never be short again.
4)Online Forums:
These are my personal favorites.The data you gather from forums ,the problems
you see raised at these forums and the ideas you generate at these forums are some
of the most accurate information you get about your chosen niche.At these forums
you come across your future buyers.These are real people with real problems and
online forums provide you a chance to spy on them without they ever knowing
about it.
There is no better way to know about the exact problems your prospects are facing
than watching live discussions going on at some of the top forums in your
niche.You can register at some of these forums and carry your research one step

further by participating in the discussions and asking people to tell you the
problems they need to get solved.

also use Google search for this purpose.Just type “your niche+ forum” in the
search box and visit as many links as you like.
Big-boards.com is the biggest directory of internet forums.It contains large lists of

forums in almost every niche.
It has the biggest database of online forums with hundreds of subcategories.In the
right it lists 5 fastest growing forums in various niches.This provides you a rough
indication of what is becoming popular.There is also a list of already popular
Categories:

It’s “Sort By” function will save you a lot of time.You can sort here the forums in
your niche according to the no. of members,no. of posts,traffic and Alexa
ranking.This is especially helpful when you deal with relatively unfamiliar
niche.You can do this sorting kind of thing via Google too but using big-boards’
“Sort By” function will save you hours of time.
Now if you want to search through Google then just type “Name of your
niche+forum” and it’ll present thousands(millions in case of big niches) of
matching results.Usually the top ranked forums are the best ones.You can visit as
many of them as you like but visiting 3-4 of them is sufficient for niche research
purpose.
The secret tip below will save you a ton of time:

Every forum has a feature named “Search”.This feature can save you a ton of time
if you know how to use it.Instead of wandering through the heaps of posts what
you have to is to type some most searched terms like:
“How to”

“I want”
“I need”
“How can I”
“I wish”
“I have to”
“Please help me”
“Can anyone tell me”
And so on .Just use your imagination.
Now you have to adjust your keywords with the above mentioned search terms.For
example:
If you are in “Make Money niche”,you’ll be typing:
“How to make money online”
“I want to make $100/day”
“I need some fast cash”
If you are in “health” niche,You would like to type:
“How to lose weight”
“How can I lose weight fast”
“I want to lose weight”
“Please help to lose weight fast”
Just use your commonsense and you’ll be having no difficulty in finding hundreds
of threads pointing you towards some pressing problem.

5)Yahoo! Answers:
With a userbase of over 90 million,Yahoo! Answers is the biggest online
knowledge community.Here registered users ask questions and other members
answer them.In the end a “Best Answer” is selected.You’ll find here questions
asked in every possible niche.There will be some questions which are being asked
over and over again.Note these questions(In your selected niche).You’ll be using
them for topics in your report.
Yahoo! Answers is not only a great place to do niche research,you’ll gain a lot of
knowledge here .In many cases,you’ll find that you don’t need any extra source of
information after skimming through the answers at Yahoo! Answers.
The use of Yahoo! Answers doesn’t end here.It’s a great traffic source too.The
traffic from this source is one of the most targeted traffic you can get online(I’ll
discuss the use of Yahoo! Answers as a traffic source in the later chapters of this
report).
6)Google Groups:
Another great place for your niche research.Some of the groups in big niches have
tens of thousands of members.You’ll find hundreds of such groups in any
niche.These groups work essentially as the forums but people here have more faith
in other members.These are very closely knit communities.
Visit any of such groups and you’ll find threads on several topics in your
niche.These threads provide you excellent opportunity for your niche research and
also to interact with other members.Being smaller in size(than forums),these are
closely knit communities and can provide you with highly targeted traffic once
your report is ready(I’ll discuss the traffic generation aspect in later chapters).
7)Facebook Groups:
Like Google,Facebook too has its own groups that are frequented by millions of
users.Just go to Facebook and search for “your niche+ group”.
You’ll be presented with dozens of groups frequented by thousands of users.These

group members discuss their problems with each other and help each other to get
rid of that problem(or achieve that goal).
8)Magazines:

Magazines can be a good indicator of what kind of information are people actually
buying.If people are paying for the subscription of a niche specific magazine then
they’ll also not hesitate to take out their credit cards to get related info products.
To determine what is selling,just go to your local book store or browse online at

9)TV,%ewspapers and Magazines ads:

Look through the ads appearing in your favorite TV channel ,newspapers and
magazines and you’ll get a lot of niche ideas.These ads are running because people
are interested in those products and the advertisers are making
money.Obviously,there should market for them online too.You can create a short
info product and rake in a lot of cash.
For example:
Global warming is a hot topic now and a lot of people prefer green energy.You can
easily gather information on “how to help controlling global warming and save
money in the process”.Do you remember,a few years back there was a product
called “Water4Gas” on clickbank.It was the most popular product during the recent
oil crisis.With oil prices skyrocketing,this info product touched the highest gravity
of 970(probably the highest in clickbank history).
There were several products which were just copy of this one.They too sold
thousands and thousands of copies.Global warming is a hot topic currently and it’ll
always be hot.You can create a info product on “green energy” or “how to save
energy and control global warming”.I bet any product(properly created and
marketed) on these topics will go viral and the product owner will be very rich in
no time.
10)Amazon.com:
Amazon.com is also a great place for brainstorming.It contains thousands of books
in every niche.Carefully look through the bestsellers list in your niche and you’ll
get several niche ideas.You can go one step further and buy a few of these
books.They’ll provide you ideas and content for your upcoming info product.

10)Google Trends:
These trends reflect the currently popular topics.These trends reflect the topics
searched by millions worldwide and can be big money spinner if you are quick to
spot them and quick to act.The downside of these trends is that these are short
lived and you’ll have to be smart enough to be present and act at the right time.
11)eBay:
You may wonder at this selection.What was the need of including an auction site??
You may ask.Well,eBay is big enough to reflect the trend of the whole internet
community.If people are searching for some niche specific item on eBay then you
can be assured that there will be demand for related info products too.
Just go to:

and look trough the ten most searched phrases in various categories.You’ll
certainly generate a ton of niche ideas.

There are some services like NicheADay.com and Daily-Niche-Idea.com which
suggest you a potentially lucrative niche everyday.It’ll take you just a few seconds
to sign up for their newsletter and then they’ll start sending you a new ,hot
moneymaking niche everyday.
These two services are great ,both for the newbies as well as experienced
marketer.It’s like getting a fully researched niche without having to pay a penny
and they deliver a new niche every day.
I have been using the first service(NicheADay) for the last one year and I can
confidently say that this is probably the most thoroughly searched information
you’ll ever find for FREE.They send you a content packed e-mail everyday
revealing a hot niche plus up to 1,000 related keywords in spreadsheet showing
you how many times a particular keyword has been searched over the past one
year.
The second service(DailyNicheIdea) is run by marketer Cindy Battye.This FREE

service is also great for brainstorming.In fact it goes several steps further than the
first service.Besides providing you with a thoroughly researched niche everyday,it
also provides you step by step training ,Free PLR e-books,articles and audios and
information about high converting products in that niche so that you can start
profiting instantly.My highest recommendations go for this FREE service.
15)Twitter Trends:
With millions of active members,Twitter is big enough to reflect the attitude
,likings and trends of whole online community.These trends are based on the no. of
times that topic has been mentioned in the tweets.With Twitter having tens of
millions of users,the most popular of these topics generally have hundreds of
thousands of people interested in them.
You have to be smart enough to benefit from these trends.These trends are short
lived but you may earn a very nice short term income with them.Also,you don’t
need to worry about finding targeted traffic as you can simply join Twitter,start

following a few hundred of those people and start tweeting about product.I’ll
describe this thing in proper detail in the later chapters.
How To Determine The Profitability Of A %iche:The

Google Method
Starting with the 3rd niche research technique,all the methods described
subsequently,will help you to uncover hot niches(the niches that have a lot of
people interested in) .But unlike the first two methods,these may not give you a
clear estimate of the moneymaking potential of that niche.So you have to go one
more step to determine if that market is willing to spend money on your info
product.
In order to make the optimum use of your time and efforts,you’ll first need to
determine if these prospects are ready to spend money on your material…
The method I am going to tell you now is the easiest method to determine relative
profitability of niches.
Google is the no.1 search engine and it gets more than 70% of all the searches.In
fact,in majority of the cases,an internet “purchase” starts with a search in
Google…………..Using the Google search,you can determine the profit potential
of a niche in seconds.
When you search for a term in Google,you see two types of listings:
i)Organic listings:
These are natural search results and these sites are ranked according to their
relative importance.
ii)Sponsored Ads:
These are paid listing and runs alongside the natural results.You’ll see them at the
top and right side of the page(at most 3 at the top and eight in the right side of the
page).
If you visit the landing pages of these ads,you’ll notice that most of these ads
belongs to either affiliates or product owners.

These people use Google adwords to advertise their product and services and if
there are a lot of ads associated to keywords in your niche,you can be certain that it
has a lot of moneymaking potential.
Just type the name of niche in Google search box and hit the “Search” button. In
case of lucrative niches ,you’ll notice that almost all the slots for sponsored ads are
full………The no. of these ads will be less in case of moderately profitable niches
and there will be fewer or no ads when you enter keywords related to low potential
niches.
For illustration,lets search for the term “make money”……
You can see there are a lot of sponsored ads.
The same is true for “Weight Loss” and “dating”….

Then there are niches that get a lot of searches but have “next to nothing”

By using the above mentioned techniques to uncover niches with large prospects
bases and applying the Google method to determine their profitability ,you’ll never
again run out of lucrative niches,without having to pay for any niche research tool.
How much money you make from these niches will depend on your ability to
create(or get created) new products fast.Many niches are short lived and in
order to make money from them,you’ll need to position yourself early.
