Auxin modulates the activity of RNA polymerase, leading to the synthesis of RNA.

GA3 influences the synthesis of RNA in many plant systems (Varner & Johri, 1968).
Varner and Johri (1968) concluded that the enhanced RNA synthesis could be due (a) to
an increase in template DNA availability, (b) to an increase in the RNA polymerase
activity, or (c) to a combination of the above two possibilities.

Another explanation might be that the hormone changes the permeability of the nuclear
membrane and thereby makes the RNA precursors more available for use in
transcription.

Cytokinins increase the amount of DNA synthesized. Furthermore, it also increases the
rate of RNA synthesis in ageing tissue. Plant response to Cytokinins regarding DNA
synthesis appears to be more rapid than RNA synthesis.

Ethylene helps to promote RNA synthesis in preclimacteric fruit as well as increase RNA
synthesis during epinasty. But, it acts directly towards the blockage of DNA metabolism.

Abscisic acid inhibits the synthesis of various nucleic acids. Abscisic acid has little or no
direct effect on the synthesis of nucleic acids at genome level.
