Mechanics for the Retro Dance Showdown:

1. The Retro Dance Showdown will be a competition among the Grade 11 STEM
Classes.
2. Two sections will be paired, and they must only have one (1) group as their
representative.
3. Each group must have a minimum of ten (10) and a maximum of 25 members.
4. The concept of the dance routine must be relevant to the theme: RETRO.
5. The dance routine must be at least three (3) minutes, but not more than five (5)
minutes. Beyond this limit, a total of five (5) points will be deducted from the
group’s total score.
6. Each group are permitted to mix and use music of their choice. But, it must be
relevant to the theme.
7. Each group must submit their music a week before the event to the Dance
Showdown Committee for a review.
8. The music used during the performance must be free of foul words and dirty
language. Otherwise, a deduction of (5) points from the group’s total score.
9. Folk dances or accompaniment of folk music is strictly prohibited.
10. Utilization of any props are allowed except for the following: live animals,
pyrotechnic gadgets, smoke or combustible materials.
11. Dangerous stunts (e.g. throws, pyramids) are strictly prohibited.
12. Participants must be at the venue at the stipulated time.
13. For late arrivals, there will be a deduction of five (5) points. Otherwise, fifteen (15)
minutes late shall lead to disqualification.
14. The participants’ costume must follow a dress code:
a. Men: Bare feet, slippers, sandals, sleeveless shirts, and shorts four (4)
inches or more above knee level are prohibited
b. Women: Bare feet, slippers, sandals, sleeveless shirts, and shorts four
(4) inches or more above knee level are prohibited
c. Any article of clothing that has vulgar prints are strictly prohibited.
15. The groups will perform on the dance floor. Hence, other students are expected
to sit on their chairs.
16. They will be graded by three (3) judges coming from the faculty. The judges
should not be currently teaching any STEM Grade 11 Class.
17. The Top 3 groups will be announced and the Top 1 will receive a prize at the
end of the program.
18. Below is the criteria for judging:

Stage Use and Presence 15%
Attitude, Character, and Facials 10%
Audience Impact 5%
