COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
Experience  Minimum 23-5 years of relevant vocational teaching experience at a recognised
Required educational institute.
 Minimum 5 years of aAppropriate and relevantvocational and/ industryrial or industry
project management work experience.
 Successful teaching and assessing experience in a range of areas within the specific
discipline.
 Ability to use student centred, applied teaching strategies.
 Extensive knowledge of curriculum and related assessment practices within the
specific discipline
 Proven ability to implement and evaluate high quality education & training programs
 Knowledge of relevant policy and educational developments in vocational education
and training both locally and internationally
 Sound problem solving skills
 Excellent communication, liaison and interpersonal skills
 Ability to use Information Technology in the classroom such as smartboard, ppt.,
Word, spreadsheets, LMS
 Demonstrate cultural awareness and capacity to work effectively in a workforce
comprising of UAE nationals and expatriates.
 Proven willingness to work effectively and to contribute to the team environment and
objectives.
 Proven capacity to be flexible and responsive to situations
Education Required:
Relevant degreee (preferably at Masters Level) from an accredited higher education
institute in one any of the following disciplines:
 Business;
 Accounting;
 Electrical Engineering;
 Mechanical Engineering;
 Travel & Tourism;
 Event Management;
 Environmental Health & Safety.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education is leading educational change across the UAE. The Ministry
of Education has implemented a new Professional Stream as part of its progressive educational change
programme. The Professional Stream will contribute to the UAE’s vision of preparing students for a better
tomorrow by equipping them with the necessary skills for a successful future and effectively supporting them
to manage their own educational and personal growth.
The Professional Stream is an exciting new vocational programme being delivered across the UAE focusing
on developing the students specialised skills, by delivering a new curriculum in an applied environment. This

JOB STATEMENT

 Promote a positive teaching and learning environment in Ministry of Education (MoE) schools across
the Emirates.
 Facilitate applied lessons in an engaging and progressive manner.
 Ensure successful implementation of the new curriculum and assessment strategy.
 Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the new curriculum and assessment strategy.
 Support a Professional Stream wide reform by participating in and organising professional
development sessions such as: peer-observations, model lessons, professional development
workshops and any other activities that promote effective teaching and learning.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Professional Stream Teachers work in teams, led by Professional Stream CoordinatorsLead Teachers, with each
member contributing to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning materials and support for students.
Professional Stream Teachers are responsible for the successful implementation of Professional Stream
Curriculum across grades 9-12 and are required to do the following:

 Deliver the curriculum according to 21 st century teaching and learning principles.

 Model and support an applied, learner-centered, hands-on classroom environment that promotes
learner engagement and participation.
 Ensure that students reach the expected age-related outcomes.
 Create a positive, active, practical, applied learning environment.
 Manage all facilities and activities related to achieve student learning.
 Play a leadership role in modeling behaviour, attitudes, and learning behaviours for students.
 Support the learning process by identifying needs and guiding students to achieve their learning
objectives.
 Ensure assessments are delivered according to the assessment strategy and guidelines, in a valid and
rigorous manner.
 Maintain an accurate record of student achievement and performance.
 Create positive and effective relationships with colleagues.

Professional Stream Teachers are required to:
 Work collaboratively within their school to develop a cohesive cross curricular focus.
 Work in conjunction with similar subject specialists to enhance students learning and an applied focused
environment.
 Work extra hours to provide extra-curricular activities
 Travel as required to events, training and provide cover away from their school
 Be smart and present a positive image of themselves and the Professional Stream at all times
Professional Stream Teachers should be able to:
 Integrate with colleagues from different cultures
 Perform all aspects of their role with an understanding of the wider strategy
 Plan effectively and manage their workload
 Operate in arduous weather conditions (hot)
 Gain the confidence and respect of Emirati personnel at all levels
