CASE: MORE HASSLE FROM HR?

Situational Analysis: The current case deals with the ongoing issues in the HR department at
Vreeland Pharmaceuticals which is related to scandals in sales last year, as a result of which
the company has decided to bring in some changes in the policies and the core values. The
HR team is not on the right track by changing the set of leader rules and core values because
in order to avoid manager mishaps the company would have laid down some set of rules by
bringing changes in the penalty section of the rules as, not all the managers are the same and
it was not needed to completely change the rules. This would create more disagreement
within the managers and everyone would not feel free to work for such an organization
because they are ones who have a lot of experience and by bounding them with stricter rules
and regulation would affect the quality of work which they do because they take quality
decisions from there past experience as a result they would not work freely. If the
organization is imposing such changes then it’s better to have a more participative and open
culture so that each of them feel their importance in the organization so that it involves a lot
more of inputs coming from managers and they would also feel more related to the
organization as their inputs would get valued, this should also be done in order to let
managers take decisions on their own which would create an environment of more
participation and one can contribute more towards the growth and betterment of the
organization. According to me Garry and Vitorio are on the defensive side, they could have
handled the situation in a more welcoming way as being managers they should have been
more open to challenges and also they could have come with more suggestions on how to
deal with the situation by taking into consideration the problems faced by the higher
authorities and they could have tried to involve more coping strategies from their end, also
they should listen to the management and try and implement the changes and try to handle the
their respective teams on the basis of their past experiences as they are the ones who would
be representing their teams, they would have raised their concerns in front of the authorities
and also they should listen them once before reaching to conclusions because it may have
been possible that after meeting with the authorities they would have thought that the
authorities were correct. So they should listen to Connie and then can discuss their concerns.
