Toy is an object for a child to play with, a model or a miniature replica of something. The toy can be
made up of plastic, wood or metal. Some of them can be mechanically operated while some of them
can be a battery operated, which can move or make sounds. The toys are made for different
purposes. Toys like a car or a doll is for entertainment of kids. Toys like puzzles or Rubik’s cube are
educational toys. Amongst all these toys, my favourite one is Elsa doll. It is a miniature replica of one
of the Disney movie character.
My doll is mechanical toy, packed in a beautiful throne shaped box. It is made in China. The joints of
the dolls are fixed with each other, so that one can move its hands, legs and neck easily. The Elsa
doll is made up of plastic with height of about six inch. Variety of colours are used to make it look
attractive. It has chubby cheeks and pink lips. It has twinkling green eyes and long blonde hair. The
hair is braided in a long plait coming on her shoulder. It has beautiful long blue gown with fluffy
sleeves and pink thread work. The buttons are painted with golden colour while the bow attached is
red. Elsa doll is wearing a white ballerina and has a tint of glitter on it. The tiny silver crown on its
head makes it looks like a princess.
My sister and I share the doll and play pretend a lot with it. Sometimes I share it with my friends too,
especially when we gather at my house. I keep the Elsa doll clean and neat. If is required, I give it a
bath with soap. I keep the doll in my closet with rest of my toys.
This Elsa doll is very special to me, as it is gifted by my grandparents on my fifth birthday. It is
something that I always wanted. When I received it as a gift, my eyes lit up. Since then, it has been
my favourite toy out of all I have. I surely recommend this toy to buy, especially for girls of my age.

Report Writing: My favourite Animal

Planning: Define animals, species – details, favourite one- Lion

Where- Forest, wander in the forest, Africa, Gir forest
Appearance- Majestic mane, golden ochre color, tuft at the tip of tail, whiskers, sharp claws, big
paws, sharp teeth
Species: Cat family, group – pride, female – lioness, baby – cub, foot print – pugmarks
Diet: Carnivore, meats i.e. deer, buffalo, zebra etc., hunts its prey, lioness hunts more in early
morning and evening
Some more facts: Why lioness hunt?

There are many creatures in nature, from aquatic to terrestrial beings. Some of them are amphibians,
mammals or some are reptiles. Depending upon their food habits, they can be carnivore, herbivore or
omnivore. There are many species living in each of the habitat. Out of all these, the most magnificent
creature I find is the wild animal lion.
Majestic mane is the distinguish characteristic of lion. The golden ochre to brown colour helps it to
camouflage in the dry meadow. It has sharp claws and big paws to catch hold on its prey and tear
them off. The sharp teeth chews the flesh of animals easily. It has a tuft of hair at the tip of its tail. The
lion roars deep and loud, which can be heard for more than 5kilometres. The speed of the lion is
80kilometre per hour.
Lion is a very strong member from the cat family. It is a well-muscled cat with a long body, large
head, and short legs. Lions are most active at night and live in a variety of habitats but prefer
grassland, savanna, dense scrub, and open woodland. They are generally found in deep forests of
Africa and Gir of India. They are carnivorous animals. They hunt for deer, bison, zebra and many
other wild animals. The lioness hunts more for the group, called pride.
The female lion is called lioness and the baby lion is called cub. The footprints of the lion is called
pugmarks. The height of the lion is about 1.2metre. The lioness are without mane, does more of
hunting as it can camouflage very easily in the grass during dawn or twilight time.
The close encounter with this wild animal can be in the safari of Africa. Because of its unique
appearance and unusual strength, lion is the most familiar and easily distinguishable of all the cats.
This makes it my favourite animal too.

Describe the place.
What type of food do you get there? What did you order? Which is your favourite dish?
Other details- how was the service?

Planning:
The Mafatlal Restaurant.. part of a club… Girgaon Chowpatty, Mumbai.. Visited on my birthday.. With
family and cousins..
Open place.. near the sea shore.. has a deck.. can see the Nariman point area.. boats.. open sea..
has a closed area… fixed vegetarian menu.. Indian cuisines… My favourite – pav bhaji..
good service.. speedy.. humble.. clean.. wooden furniture in the closed area.. lanterns.. paintings..
Chocolate shake and open sea shore.. play area outside the restaurant.. recommend.. visit again

Restaurant is a place where people pay to sit and eat meals that are cooked and served on the
premises. Metro city like Mumbai has many types of restaurants like Fine dine, Contemporary, Cafes,
Fast Food. Fine dining restaurants are almost always formal and pricey, whereas fast food and
casual restaurants are usually more affordable options with laid-back environments. My favourite one
is just like this, The Mafatlal Restaurant.
This restaurant is part of the club located in Girgaon Chowpatty area of Mumbai. I visited this place
on my last birthday with my family and cousins. One have to hire a cab or can use the rail service to
visit this part of Mumbai from suburbs.
Mafatlal has a closed area of restaurant with wooden décor. It has wooden chairs and tables. Each
carved table has a small flower vase with an orchid placed in it. The beautiful lanterns on the ceiling
and the colourful paintings on walls make the place look simple and elegant. The French window of
the restaurant can show us the beautiful sea. It has a deck extended from the backyard of the closed
area, opening to the sea shore. One can see the pride of the Mumbai, Queen’s necklace from one
side of the deck. We can enjoy our meal in this open deck area with cool breeze and beautiful sunset
along with. They have kept some tables and chairs with small umbrella shaped shed over it in this
part.
The restaurant offers vegetarian Indian cuisines and fast food. They offer some lip-smacking variety
of sandwiches, pakoras, south-Indian meals as well as some juices, shakes and sodas. Out of these
all, my favourite ones are pav-bhaji and coco-milk. The price of the items are also reasonable and
worth it. Though the guests typically pass around the dishes and serve themselves, the service
provided by the attendants is very good and quick. They are very organized and clean.
Visiting this place always gives me a nice break from my monotonous routine. I would recommend
this place to my friends and cousins, as it has a serene environment and it feels closer to the nature
in a busy city life. Of course the Indian food made with variety of spices is one of the reason to visit
this restaurant again.

p.3-Favourite part: learns how to behave.. her parents take her back to home..
p.4- Recommendation: adventurous story.. it has a perfect exciting story concepts from beginning to
end.
Book is a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and
bound in covers. It can also be defined as a written text that can be published in printed or electronic
form. Books are generally divided into two types, fiction and non-fiction. Non-fiction books contain
factual information, such as biographies and history books. Fiction books contain a story which was
made up by the author. Then the books can be further categorized in different genres. I like the series
of books called The Naughtiest Girl’ out of which my favourite one is ‘The Naughtiest Girl in the
School.’ It is written by the famous British author Enid Blyton, who is an expert in children’s literature.
Famous Five, Barney Mysteries and Secret Seven are amongst some famous series written by her.
This book narrates a story of a naughtiest girl Elizabeth, who is sent to one boarding school named
Whyteleafe by her parents. She is spoilt, selfish and irritating, hence was sent to this boarding school.
One of the interesting characters in this book besides Elizabeth is Joan. She is kind, shy and happy
girl. Both of them become good friends after series of situations arising in the school.
The entire story is plotted in the Whyteleafe School, located in countryside. The unique thing about
this school is that it runs like a parliament, where the children make their own rules. They hear
grumbles and complaints, judge one another and punish bad behavior. The head boy and girl
supervise over the meeting held by twelve monitors, chosen by the other children. All problems were
discussed and decided by the children and only in very difficult situations when the head teachers
asked for their advice. The teachers in the school are very good, supportive and encouraging, not
only for academics but also for sports and other activities.
The part that I really like the most in the book is the way Elizabeth is influenced by the environment in
the school and friends around her. Then she is changed into a kind, happy and well behaved girl. The
way slowly Elizabeth learnt to be an obedient and well behaved child. The way she realized the
importance of school, good teachers and friends.
I surely recommend this fiction book to my friends as this is the perfect book for readers who likes to
read an adventurous stories. It has a good plot, exciting story line and a perfect climax for one good

p2. Rules.. hit the shutter cock.. one shot is one point.. serve across the net..
p3. practice.. underarm serve.. strokes.. footwork
p4. determination.. patience.. hard work.. energetic..
A game is an activity or sport usually involving skill and knowledge. We follow fixed rules and try to
win against an opponent. In the active routine of life, man needs an activity that makes his mind fresh
and maintain our body physique. This can quickly be done by doing any sport. My favorite game is
badminton. Badminton is an indoor game. It require the small court, even one can enjoy it within
one’s courtyard with a pair of rackets and a shuttlecock. My favourite badminton player is P.Sindhu.
There are several rules followed in this game. Some of them are:
To score a point the shuttlecock must hit within the limit of the opponents court.
Serve should always be done underarm and below the server’s waist.
Players must serve diagonally across the net to their opponent.
If the shuttle cock hits the net or even touches the net, the point goes to your opponent.
Each side can strike the shuttlecock only once before it passes over the net.
Once hit, a player can't strike the shuttlecock in a new movement or shot.
Each game is umpired by a referee on a high chair who overlooks the game.
Every game requires some special skills. Badminton also need some special skills achieved with
disciplined practice. One needs forehand and backhand grip on racket. Footwork is basic badminton
skill that a lot of new players often overlook. Strokes and underarm backhand serve are the skills can
be achieved only with regular practice.
It makes me enthusiastic and energetic. It makes me sturdy and hard. It teaches to overcome the
challenges. It makes me bear stress with patience. I also learn how to be persistent in playing.
Another reason why my favorite game is badminton is it teaches the lesson of determination.
Sometimes, during the game, I cannot do my best in one round, and as a result, I do not touch victory
in that round. But badminton teaches me the lesson not to lose hope, but to be determined. We shall
continue struggling with determination until we win our game.

Butterflies go through a life cycle. A butterfly has four stages in its life cycle. Each stage is different.
Each stage also has a different goal. A butterfly becoming an adult is called metamorphosis. The life
cycle process can take a month to year. It depends on the type of butterfly.

Stage 1: Eggs
In the first stage a girl butterfly lays eggs. A butterfly first starts out as an egg. A girl butterfly lays the
eggs on a leaf. She lays the eggs really close together. The eggs are really small and round. About
five days after the eggs are laid. A tiny worm-like creature will hatch from the egg.
Stage 2: Caterpillar (Larve)
The second stage is the caterpillar. A caterpillar is sometimes called larve. A caterpillar is a long
creature. It looks like a worm. Most caterpillars have a cool pattern. This pattern has stripes or
patches. The caterpillar is hungry once it has hatched. It starts to eat leaves and flowers. It eats these
all the time. It first eats the leaf that it was born on. This is the eating and growing stage.
A caterpillar grows really fast. This is because they eat a lot. A caterpillar is really small when it is
born. It starts to grow fast. This is because it eats all the time. It grows so fast that it becomes too big
for its skin. So the caterpillar has to shed its old skin. It then gets new skin. Caterpillars shed their skin
four or more times while they are growing. A caterpillar shedding its outgrown skin is called molting.
Caterpillars do not stay in this stage very long. While they are in this stage, all they do is eat.
Stage 5: Chrysalis (Pupa)
Stage three is the chrysalis. This is when the caterpillar is done growing. The caterpillar makes a
chrysalis. Another name for a chrysalis is a pupa. It is mostly brown or green. It is the same color as
the things around it. Things like the trees, leaves, or branches. This is so that other animals cannot
see it. This protects them. This keeps them from getting hurt.

7 PRIS H A K APADIA
This is the resting stage. It also is the changing stage. The caterpillar starts to changes. It starts to
turn into a butterfly. It starts to look different. Its shape starts to change. It changes quickly. It then
turns into a butterfly. All this happens in the chrysalis. This does not take a long time.
Stage 4: Butterly (Adult) (Imago)
In stage four, the chrysalis opens. Soon a butterfly comes out. A butterfly is sometimes called an
imago. It is also called an adult. Butterflies are very colorful. When the butterfly first comes out its
wings are damp. The wings are also soft. The wings are folded against its body. The butterfly is also
very tired. So the butterfly rests.
Once the butterfly has rested, it will be ready to start flying. It will start to pump blood into its wings.
This is to get them working and flapping. After it does this, it can now learn to fly. Butterflies cannot fly
good at first. They need a lot of practice. It does not take long for them to learn. They learn fast.
When it can fly, it will go look for food. The butterfly will also go look for a mate. It will soon find a
mate. It will then lay eggs. The lifecycle will start all over again.

Fun Facts about Butterflies:

a. Butterflies taste with their feet.
b. Butterflies do not have mouths.
c. Butterflies need sun to fly.
d. Butterflies fly during the day.
e. Butterflies can see some colors. They can see red, yellow, and green.
f. Butterflies cannot fly if they are too cold. They need to be warm to fly.
g. Butterflies have their skeleton on the outside of their body. This is to protect them. It keeps the
water inside of their body. This is good because they do not dry out.
h. The wings of a butterfly are transparent. The wings of a butterfly have tiny scales. These give
their wings color. This is why they do not look transparent to us.

My Favourite Festival: Holi

Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate glorious heritage, culture and traditions. They are meant
to enjoy special moments and emotions in our lives, with our loved ones. It gives us a break from our
daily monotonous routine. They were started to pass the legends, knowledge, of tradition onto next
generations. It gives us inspiration to remember the important things and moments in our life. There
are many types of festivals celebrated in India, like cultural, national and seasonal. Out of the various
festivals celebrated, Holi festival is celebrated with lot of show in north India. Holi is my favourite one.
Holi is a festival of colours which generally falls on a full moon in March. It is also a festival of love
and unity and celebrates the feat of good over evil. There are many folk tales given as the reasons for
celebrating Holi. One day prior to Holi, a ritual named ‘Holika Dahan’ is conducted in which a large
heap of bonfire is burned in cities and villages. This symbolizes the burning of evil and negative
powers. The story of the evil sister of Hiranyakaskyap who tried to kill her nephew Prahlad by sitting
in the bonfire. But by the god’s grace, Holika was burnt to ashes and Prahlad was saved unharmed.
This gave birth to the festival of Holi. People also make rounds of Holika while chanting mantras and
singing bhajans to seek health and prosperity. Some people connect this colour festival to Rasleela of
Lord Krishna and Gopis.
All hearts are lighted with glory and people everywhere enjoy with their near and dear ones with
different colours, next day. People also throw water balloons on each other and on passer-by too.
Many are also drenched in coloured water. Hours pass by throwing colours on each other and it
seems as if it's just the start of the day. Everyone in open areas such as streets and parks is game,
but inside homes or at doorways only dry powder is used to smear each other's face. It is like a water
fight, but with coloured water. People take delight in spraying coloured water on each other. Children
throw water colours by using water cannons or ‘pichkari’ to enjoy the festival. In the evening, people
dress up in attractive attire and visit their friends and relatives and hug them by applying ‘gulal’, the
dry colors. People also sing folk songs and dance to the tune of famous Holi songs.
Holi is played in the Spring Season which is a period between end of winter and arrival of summer.
People normally go through the transition phase of winter and summer. The period induces the
growth of bacteria in the atmosphere as well as in the body. When Holika is burnt, temperature of the
nearby area rises around 50-60 degree Celsius. Following the tradition when people take rounds
around the Holi dahan, the heat coming from the bonfire kills the bacteria in the body and cleanses it.
Holi is celebrated with vibrant colours - these colour are actually colours of joy, love and colours that
fill our life with happiness to the core of our hearts, so it is my favourite festival. My family, friends and
I use ecofriendly natural colours, which does not cause any harm to the environment. We play with
the colours & spread gulal to colour each other. I also spray coloured water with pichkari to my
friends. In my society we have special celebration of Holi, where we all neighbors get together and
play with colours. We also have lunch together on that day. We dance in water and throw balloons. It
decorates each life with its various hues.

In Mumbai there are umpteen places like malls, restaurants, hotels and clubs. There are certain

outdoor activities. My favourite out of all these places is The Mafatlal Bath Club. It is located at
Girgaon Chowpatty. I visited this place lastly on my 8th birthday with my family and friends.

One can get to this club by a cab, car or train. Mafatlal Club is a huge area, enclosing number of
activities and descent fast food restaurant. One can have a lot of fun here by playing games, enjoying
the park, relishing lip-smacking cuisines in the restaurant. The best part of the club is one can enjoy
the serene beauty of Chowpatty sea shore, sitting on the bench kept in the open area within the
premises. From the open area, in the evening, one can see the pride of Mumbai, ‘The Queen’s
Necklace.’ At night particularly from an open side of the club, one can see the street lights resemble a
string of pearls in a necklace form. The wooosh of waves of ocean and the moon shining in the sky
can make the place really serene in city life.

Mafatlal Bath has a humongous pool, with a cold shower and a diving stand. One can enjoy pool
area, splashing water on each other. Many a time, the club organizes the swimming competition for
different age groups. The water in the pool is clear blue. They have a restaurant in a closed area with
a nice décor. Each table has a bud of orchid placed in the center, while the wall has beautiful
paintings. The park area for kids has swings, slides and see-saw to play with. It has a well-equipped
gym where one can enjoy working out with soft music. The indoor play area has games like carom,
chess and table-tennis.

Just in case the person is not a member of the club, they have to pay Rs.50 per person to enjoy the
services. One has to pay the fee if one wants to be a club member. Eating outside food apart from the
dishes offered in restaurant is strictly prohibited. They emphasis a lot on keeping the premises clean
and hygienic. The safe guards and watchmen are always keeping an eye over every one visiting the
club.

Describe the place.

Planning:
Juhu beach.. Vile parle .. Parents and friends.. week end
Calm.. near sea shore.. bright sand

not to litter..
fun.. food on mat.. sunset/sunrise

A beach is a place adjacent to a sea shore. There is sand everywhere on the shore; the sand is
usually wet near the areas where the water touches the shore. There are a lot of palm trees that grow
on the shores of the beach. Beaches are of different types like sandy beach, rocky beach etc. We
generally go to Juhu beach, which is located near my house in Vile Parle. I have been to the beach
lastly with my parents and sister on week end evening.
It is a place to relax as it is quiet and peaceful. It is one of the best places in the city to enjoy the
weekend. There is a vast ocean in front and the breeze is always blowing, the air is very pure and
fresh. A lot of people come to the beach to enjoy this fresh air.
On holidays, beaches are quite crowded as people come here to do various things. Some come for
picnic, some of them make sand castles, others come here to take a walk, sometimes artists come to
paint sunset and some even come to do yoga. One can see a lot of food vendors at the beach selling
different kinds of food, like coconut water, corn cob, and candy floss. There are people selling small
toys and balloons on the beach too.
People do get their mats from home, to sit on for longer hours with family. They carry their snacks
along with to munch. Now, people have become aware, not to throw things, food items or plastic on
beach, as it spoils not only the shore but also the sea water, and thus effect the marine life. One must
be responsible citizen to keep our natural resources like beach, clean.
I enjoyed visiting beach every single time, whether with my family or with my friends. We always have
fun together. We play Frisbee, cricket or tag often on beach. My sister and I make sand castles with
our beach toys. My mother generally carries sandwiches and lemonade to offer when we are famish
after play. I surely recommend this beach area to have relaxing time and would like to visit again with
my family or friends.

My Favourite Pet Animal : Dog
Which animal is it?
What does it look like?
How is it useful?
Why do you like it?
Planning:
Animals… parrot, gold fish.. favourite dog.
Appearance, four legs, furry, small tail
Loyal, quick, alert
Play fetch, hug, friendly

People around the world are fond of keeping pet animals. While most people stick to dogs and cats,
many people go for rabbits, turtles, snakes, monkeys, horses and what not. It is great to have pets
around. People who own pets recommend the same to everyone. I have a pet dog named Roger. It is
a German shepherd and it has been a part of my family since the last 3 years.
He is a well-proportioned dog. The head is broad and points to a sharp muzzle. The ears are large
and stand erect. The back is level and muscular, and the tail is bushy and curves downward. The
coat is thick and rough. It is black and tan. The coat is harsh and of medium length.
It is very warm, friendly and playful. However, outsiders often find it dangerous. This is because of its
built and colour. It is vigilant and guards our house all the time. Smart and easily trained, the ever-
popular German shepherd is quite active and likes to have something to do. It needs ample of
exercise daily; otherwise, it becomes mischievous or high-strung.
Most people pet animals for their love for them while others pet them for their need, like for security
purpose, companionship, etc. However, Roger has become an integral part of the family and an
inseparable part of our lives today. We play fetch a lot, it hugs us and leaks us often to show his
affection. Dogs are really adorable. I feel that everyone should keep a pet dog.
