 Internal Assessment: It includes 1st hourly test, Mid-term test, 2nd hourly test, surprise test, quiz,
tutorials and assignments.
 External Assessment: At the end of semester, final examination will be conducted to evaluate
students’ performance.

Attendance Rules:

 75% of attendance is mandatory for each student.


 In case a candidate fails to meet the attendance requirements he/she will be debarred from appearing

Objectives: -
● To make students familiarize with preparation of Working Drawings and concept of
prefabrication, modular construction, etc.

Methodology: -
• Introduction to materials and construction through lectures and studio exercises.
• Site visits to gain knowledge about construction details.
• Market study of the products available

1. Working Drawings: Preparation of Complete Set of working drawings of a


major design project including Site plan, Foundation plans, Elevations and
Sections, floor plans, etc.
Commercial Kitchen- Study, designing and detailing of a commercial
kitchen for hotels, restaurants, etc.
2. Pre- stressing and Post- Tensioning: Introduction to the concept and
techniques of Pre- stressing and Post- Tensioning
Modular Construction- Objectives, basic principles, planning and structural
modules
3. Prefabrication :Study of Prefabricated structures, Advantages and
disadvantages, on-site and off- site pre-fabrication, Pre-fabricated
components, involving simple details in prefabrication.

General guidelines for the teacher:


• To introduce students to primary building materials and their applications in Building
construction.
• To cultivate and promote personal observation and self- learning in students through site
visits.
• Students will submit a report on the learning of site visit for evaluation. The award shall form
part and parcel of the sessional work for internal marks.

SECTION-A Marks:5

1) Explain the main kinds of Commercial Kitchen Layouts, sketch basic explanatory diagrams and its
advantages for each typology (3marks)
2) Sketch different types of profiles used in commercial kitchen counters and the uses for each type
(2marks)

SECTION-B Marks:20

On the basis of exercises done in class for preparing working drawings of floor plans, you are required to
design an Assembly Line Commercial Kitchen for a restaurant for 1000 people using stainless steel
counters and other fixtures. You are required to prepare the following drawings.

1. Complete kitchen layout including, but not limited to:


a. All types of Stores(Dry Storage and Refrigeration Requirements)
b. Preparation areas
c. Cooking areas
d. Washing areas
e. Managers room
f. Changing room for staff
g. Toilets for staff
 Show grid, dimensions, all stainless-steel counters(show all cooking equipment properly
marked 1,2,3 ...... ) and legend.
2. Services to be detailed for the project:
a. Electrical layout
b. Gas pipeline
c. Hot and Cold water supply
d. Drainage
e. Smoke and Heat ventilation through chimneys, extractor hoods as well as ducting.
3. Draft working drawings of any two elevations showing major working areas with details of
appliances used
4. Draft one section cutting through counters, ceilings etc

 Take any other standard sizes/details if missing.


 Please ensure you use only standard architectural scales for the drawings.
