INTRODUCTION
1.INTRODUCTION

An internship is a period of work experience molested by an organization for a limited period


of time. Interns are usually undergraduate or students and most internship are last for any
length of time between one week and 12 months .internship study helps a researcher to
understand the working and policy making activities of a company as a whole .it provide a
researcher a practical knowledge about the functioning and condition of the activities of the
department in the organization and develop practical knowledge about the working of the
organization. It provides both theoretical and practical knowledge regarding various aspects
of management and implication which would condition and gear the prospective manager to
face challenges lying ahead.

This report is a short description of the internship program carried out at Aiswarya TVS
Pathanamthitta. TVS motor company is a multinational motorcycle company headquartered
at Chennai, India. It is the third largest motorcycle company in India with revenue of over
20000 crore in 2018-19.TVS motor company is also the 2nd largest exporter in India with
exports to over 60 countries. TVS was established by Thirukkurungudi Sundaram Iyengar. It
was founded in the year 1978.it has various product such as motorcycles, scooters, three
wheeler, and spare parts TVS motor company Ltd a member of the group in terms of size and
turnover. It was the first Indian company to deploy a catalytic converter in a 100 cc
motorcycle and the first to indigenously produce a four stroke 150 cc motorcycle. The
effective implementation of Total productivity maintenance practices gave TVS motor the
TPM Excellence Award given by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance in 2008.

It also gives a general idea of the industry and helps to understand the organizational
structure, functions duties and responsibilities of the various function departments. More than
a plain account of tasks assigned and the report reflects upon the experiences collected during
the internship from the perspective of an MBA student

.07.2019)

Marketing is the department that is assigned for the interns. And reported directly to the
marketing head. Mrs.kavitha . Functions and activities regarding internship were assigned by
the marketing manager and if any doubts arise, she will clarify it and gives feedback.

(d) BRIEF DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE WHOLE INTERNSHIP

The internship was quite useful as the interns got to thoroughly understand the fundamentals
and mechanisms how a showroom operates. Each department plays an important role in the
functioning of the showroom as each department contributes their fare share valuable outputs
for the showroom. The main objective is to sale as many as units to the customers and also
providing a good quality customer Satisfaction they deserve.

ABOUT THE INDUSTRY:


Automobile industry comprises that manufacture motorcycle. Motorcycle is two wheeler
vehicles used for transportation. Motorcycles are equipped with engines that run on fuels such
as petrol diesel and LPG. Motorcycles primarily require petrol to run. Motorcycles
manufactures across the world have evolved from manufacturing bicycle to fully functioning
high quality, fast engine equipped motorcycles. Companies that manufactures motor cycles are
comprises of functions of designing, manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of motorcycles.
Apart from producing the product companies also offer service in maintenance and repair.
Motor cycle manufactures across the world are spanned into different regions different
countries and have setup cost stores for expansion of their brand. Companies that manufacture
motorcycles are competitive and innovative in nature. Their growth is determined upon their
innovative and efficient production of motorcycles that sustains rough and harsh condition and
that offer longevity

HISTORY
In 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmuller became the first series production motorcycle and first to
be called a motorcycle Excelsior Motor Company originally a bicycle manufacturing
company began production of their first motorcycle models in 1856. At the turn of the 20th
century the first major mass production firm emerged. In 1901 the Indian Motorcycle
Manufacturing Company introduced motorcycles named singles in India

industry offer new opportunity for growth and innovation. There is a culture of motorcyclist
increasing in number and forming groups in various parts of the world; to celebrate and to bring

environment awareness campaigns , the major concern such as carbons emission are taken into
serious considerations .for that there are new entrant of electric powered scooters run on
batteries and can clock a good distances with full recharge. Motorcycle being a lot heavier and
need extreme power for running use engines that help to cover long distances. Motorcycle
industry along with the help of NGO and government incorporate changes that are an additional
beneficial factors

TVS Motor Company is part of the TVS Group and was founded in 1978. The TVS Group
was originally formed in 1911 by T V Sundaram Iyengar. TVS Motor Company introduced
their first two-wheeler, the TVS 50 moped, in 1980 and entered into domestic racing with it
in 1984. In 1987, TVS Racing division was born. In 2015, TVS Motor became the first Indian
company to enter into Dakar Rally with the French motorcycle manufacturer Sherco.

110, Jupiter, Wega 110, XL 100 moped, XL 100 Comfort, XL Super, XL Super Heavy Duty,

departmentation. It can be defined as the process by which activities or functions of the
enterprise are grouped. Every organization has various departments according to their nature
of product or service. In Aiswarya TVS following are the major departments:

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The finance department of a company is the function responsible for acquiring funds for the
firm, managing funds within the firm and planning for the expenditure of funds on various
assets. The management of finance is essential for the success of the business.
The fiancé department of Aiswarya TVS is responsible for all the financial aspect of the
company. The finance department really has two fairly dissimilar jobs to perform in most
companies managing the company’s financial sources and recording and reporting all its
financial transactions. The finance department of Aiswarya TVS promote the business ,
acquire fixed assets , make investigations such as market surveys etc. Finance department
ensures that there is money for day to day operations and oversee investment strategies for
future growth . Finance department provides information to assist the managers in making
strategic decisions. The finance department is responsible for the management of the
organizations cash flow and ensuring there are enough funds to meet the day to day expense.
The finance department works with the managers to prepare the organizations budgets and to
report back on the progress against these throughout the year. Senior manager accounts are
the head of the finance department. She looks after budget, audit, finance, store, accounting,
costing and other traditional accounting aspects.

The personnel management is the management of human resource in an organization and


is concerned with the creation of harmonious working relationship among the employees and
customers and brings about their almost individual development . The important task of human
resource management deals with effective control and care of manpower as distinguished from
other source of power .
Human resource department has a crucial role in the organization. The sales
process and other important functions are done through only with the help of human resources
. The employee in the organization is always ready to dedicate their caliber to the effective
working of the organization. The company always maintains employer employee relationship.

managers and evaluates the employees performance and appreciates them.
 Wages and salary administration
Human resource department is responsible for the wage and salary administration. The
salary is given to the employee according to the job that he /she perform. The wages are given
to the casual workers on daily basis
 Leaves
The leaves allotted to the employees based on the previously submitted application forms.
There is three earned leave in a month. The application for the prescribed format will be
submitted to HR department. The HR department allots a leave with the sanction of the
managers.
 Attendance
It is one of the major rules in the Aiswarya TVS. Attendance is different from permanent
employee they will have put their attendance on the punching machine. In case of a temporary
employee managers record the attendance in the register.

MARKETING DEPARTMENT

Marketing is the most dynamic field with in the management sector . the main
responsibilities of the marketing department in an organization analyses the market , find the
opportunities and develop the marketing strategies.

The American marketing association ( AMA ) defines marketing as “ the performance


of the business activities that direct the flow of goods and services from the producer to the
user “ . The head of the marketing functions of Aiswarya TVS is handled by the marketing
manager. Sales executives and salesman comes under the marketing managers. The company
moves its vehicles through direct selling and authorized dealers (AD).company provides
direct marketing and in other areas the distributor will supply the vehicles. The distributors
collect details regarding the preference opinion, expectations, etc... From customers and pass
the same to the head office. The company has several schemes and plans for distributors. The
top management fixes targets for the marketing department and that varies according to
seasons. The modern market is consumer oriented market and it deals with customers. A
satisfied customer is a good advertiser of product so “ customer satisfaction “ is very
important , this is because the role of a marketing manager can very significantly based on a
business ‘s size , corporate culture and industry context .

TVS Jupiter is a variomatic scooter launched in September 2013 by India’s TVS Motor
Company. The launch of the scooter marked the company's entry into the part of the market
that mainly targets males. It is powered by a single cylinder, four stroke, 110 cc engine .The
TVS Jupiter is powered by a 109.7 cc air-cooled engine which produces of power. It has a fuel
tank of 5 L and a claimed mileage of 62 Kmph. The TVS Jupiter starts at Rs 52,945 and goes
up to Rs 59,950 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in four variants
 NTORQ
TVS Ntorq 125 is a motor scooter manufactured by TVS Motor Company in India. It is
powered by a single cylinder, four stroke, 125 cc engine and delivers 6.9 kW at 7500 rpm. The
scooter delivers a pick-up of 0 to 60 kmph in 9 seconds
 TVS Apache
The TVS Apache is a brand of motorcycle made by TVS Motors since 2006. In 2008 the
company claimed that more than 2.5 million Apaches were on the road. Currently the company
sells five variants of the TVS Apache. The differences between each variant being the engine
displacement the options on offer and performance characteristics. The abbreviation 'RTR' in
the names of the motorcycles refer to 'Racing Throttle Response'.
 TVS WEGO
TVS Wego is a motor scooter manufactured by TVS Motor Company It is a unisex, dual usage
scooter and was introduced in 2010. After the releasing several variants of TVS Scooty, the
company entered in the higher end segment of the scooterette market by introducing Wego.
The TVS Wego is the only scooter with body balance technology in India. Body Balance
Technology works on combining an ergonomic design with an engine placement that ensures
an optimum center of gravity. This in turn improves maneuverability and stability, enabling
the user to handle any kind of road conditions

MARKET SHARE OF TVS FOR THE YEAR 2018 AND 2019

The share of below-125 cc bikes fell to 13 per cent in the first quarter of the current fiscal from
16 per cent a year ago in the same quarter, and moped share dropped 200 basis points to 22 per
cent in the same period. The pricing war in the entry-level motorcycle segment initiated by
Bajaj Auto could make TVS Motor most vulnerable.
According to CLSA, most of Bajaj Auto’s market share gain in the entry level bike segment
in the past five years came from TVS. Hence, rising competitive intensity in the entry-level
bike segment will hurt TVS Motor the most. The market share in low priced bike segment of
TVS dropped to 10 per cent in FY19 from 18 per cent in FY14..
The company has guided for 8-10 per cent domestic two-wheeler industry growth in the
current fiscal. However, growth in the first quarter has not been very encouraging as it lagged
the industry growth. Domestic volume growth in the first quarter for TVS stood at 9.1 per
cent YoY, while the industry grew 15.9 per cent in the same period.

When I Joined the Aiswarya TVS, I was assigned the duty of getting a detailed idea about the
functioning of the organisation , for that I meet with various department managers and its
employees to study functioning of each department in TVS , with this I gained brief information
about the Marketing department . I was required with the essential details of the organization.
I was able to assist the Marketing department employees and managers of TVS and I was
successful in assisting them. I was asked to the customers of the TVS regards the vehicles and
the service provided by them
Contribution of the intern to the organization :-
When I opted to join Aiswarya TVS I was stated to learn the function of the organization and
how it is run. So in order to do that I was tasked in various departments and learn the critical
aspects and how they maintain the proper functioning of the organization. I also gained further
knowledge regarding customer satisfaction and how to deal with them and maintain customers
satisfaction.

New ideas and concepts;

 Sorted the essential parts to it’s respective slots.
 Alphabetically ordered the registration books according to correct dates and time for
easy acess

After successfully completed the internship I got a general understanding of the various
departments and other functions that takes to run the company. Learned about new ways and
ideology that are used in the functioning of the organization. Another thing is that every
individual has a role in the working of the organization and no one is left behind. I gained
further knowledge in marketing, dealer with customers, sorting parts and recording the
necessary details in the register books. The company mainly focuses on customer satisfaction
and how to deal with them.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5. CONCLUSIONS
I had an internship opportunity with Aiswarya TVS. It was a great experience for me. I had
an opportunity to work with Marketing department and understand about the organization.
The internship was very helpful to me because I learnt new concepts and new way of
working. If there was anything I could change if I had the power to make my internship more
valuable.
It was a great experience that it helped me to learn many things from the organization.
Internship worked as a platform, where i could apply, with experience , knowledge and skills
acquired during the internship will be better prepared to face the working world, the study
conducted in Aiswarya TVS helped me to understand the real life situation in an organization
. It made me understand the various activities in the organization . It also helped in
developing my personal skill and management, which will be of great use for me up my
carrier.
