Introduction

Environmental concern nowadays is a global issue where nations around the world are
trying to resolve. Elsewhere, different laws, ordinances and programs are launched by
different governments and states. However, no matter how well versed the crafted law is,
the strict implementation of it is a huge challenge to law enforcers.
Monsoon rains do not just bring heavy rains and strong winds today but issues of flooding
due to tons of garbage and squatting; and landslide because of illegal logging and mining.
These are just some of the catastrophic events related to environmental emergencies.
In order to attain the main purpose and objective of this environmental concern,
collaborative efforts are exerted by institutions, NGO’s, private groups and organizations
through the initiative and encouragement of the state.
In our academe, that Art is an specialization, we do not set aside this environmental
emergency. In our own little way, we help through mainstreaming of stewardship to
classroom base and integrating of it in different local school activities.

List of School Based Programs

1. Regular Clean Up Drive – every month the school conducts clean up drives inside
the school premises and extends it to the neighboring alleys and major roads
through Community Clean Up Drive

2. Solid Waste Segregation – each classroom has no waste bins at all and students
are encourage to lessen and limit consumption of commodities inclined to
accumulation of waste. Waste bins are placed in strategic places with labels such
as Biodegradable, Non – biodegradable and Recyclable.

3. Bring Your Own Tumbler – students are strongly encouraged to bring tumbler or
any reusable canisters to eliminate the use of plastic cups, plastic bags, or plastic
bottle for beverages.

4. Exchange Wraps – regular prices of wrapped or packed items like potato chips are
raised by one peso so students who would return the waste wrapper to the canteen
could claim the 1.00 deposit.
5. Upcycling – is a contest where different sections compete with one another on
most valuable school equipment, furniture or fixture to be made out of recyclable
materials found inside the school premises.
