Introduction

Most people enter into marriage with the best of intentions, assuming that they

will remain in a permanent and happy union. Unfortunately, it is not always the case that

relationship works out as planned. Many marriages degrade in quality over time and end

up in a conflicted state. In recent years, something like 50% of formal marriages made in

the United States have ended in divorce.

Financial problems is a situation where money worries are causing one stress.

Many people are facing hard financial and the impact on mental health can be significant.

These problems can seem impossible to overcome, but one can get help and take steps to

improve the situation.

Theoritical Framework

The scope and nature of broken home become a central part of many human

personality theories and basis of numerous programs in education. Attempts and therefore

have been made to know what is broken home and its nature and scope.

According to Homeby (1970), broken is a home in which the parents are separated

or divorced or are no longer together as a result of death. Children from such homes lack

proper care and security.

In the same way, Udro (1978) defines a broken home as a house in which the parental

are no longer living together. Other researcher’s studies carry out on broken homes seem

to agree that broken homes are associated with increase aggressive and juvenile

delinquency in children.

Lovell (1973), opened that families spites by death, desertion, divorce, or prolong

absence.

In assessing the above definition such as a situation ( broken home can result to poor

academic performance as one child misses such opportunities of guide, securities affection

and assistant where necessary.

Related Literature

Trustnecy et al (1984), stress both parents express concern about their relation with

their children and their competence as parents. However, in general none custodian parents

weather, they are mother or fathers experience lesser stress in day today student rearing but

fell mere dissatisfied, deficiently, powerless and shut out in their relation with their

children. On the side of the student from divorce family it should be noted that in every

home the parent student relationship is based on accpetanc.

It is based, on hostility the student would well come the separation and prefer to live

with one of the parent who he or she like most the student will only develop emotional

feeling, if and separation through a court of law and the decision is such that student harded

to be, appropriate manner one of the parent least preferred. The choice or custody can

adversely affect his school performance; certainly parents are not very responsible and in

most cases fail in their parental obligation.

Relatied Studies

Navarro (1990) revealed that solo parenting is a difficult road, though at the end

you’re glad you saw it through because the real rewards are having a happy, healthy kid

and being a better person for it.

Kelly (1989), stated that is you are a solo parent your children have a right to love,

stability and a future. You are still a family. You are not somehow less of a person because

you are in a new role.

According to Wallerstein (1991), after six years of parental marriage separation, a study

of children revealed that even though many years have passed, these children still feel

“lonely, unhappy, anxious and insecure”.

According to McLanahan and Sandefur (1994), Children who have divorced parents are

approximately two times more expected to drop out of high school than those children

whose parents are intact.

According to Dawson, twenty to thirty-five percent of children who are living with

both biological parents are physically healthy than those from broken homes. Children who

have divorced parents have greater possibility to experience injury, asthma, headaches and

speech defects than those children whose parents are intact.
