ELEMENTS OF THE INTERHUMAN

by Martin Buber

The mere concept of interhuman is the life between and among persons, who are non-interchangeable
and non-objectfiable. With this, social bubble is mainly concerned. We are bounded with people whom
we share the same life experiences, social norms, culture, and such. No other member inside our social
bubble is different from the other, and that each of us are having the same thoughts into something, or
maybe all of us are living in sync. Everyone stays on the same branch of their own group demands and
that they feel like they are way different from the people outside their circle. In no way that
membership in this social circle is by means of interconnectivity, thus, intimate relationship is not a
requirement. The passage also tells us about the concept of being and seeming which is simple - some
people are frequently being the person they want to be, while some are frequently being the person
they really are.

In the concept of "being", a man's disposition is constant, and that he does not allow himself to conform
to the social demands. What he is and what he will become is simply natural and with no influence of
other people or the soiety. On the other hand, the concept of "seeming" is quite inverse. The
comformity of man to the demands of other beings is cleater, thus creating a facade. Prompted
personality is what makes him the person he wants to be, being able to produce an outward appearance
and fool the creditable reality.

The latter part of the passage tells us about the concept of Genuine Dialogue, where everyone's idea to
a subject of conversation must be equally shared to one another. With this, a man must engage his
thoughts into what they are conversing. By means of dialogue, a man connects his spirit. In the climate
of genuine dialogue, there is no keeping back of thoughts, all are uttered. It was also pointed out that to
speak is both nature and work. To utter is to take the act of speaking and that there is something that
grows within it.
