I’m so glad that you are learning English with me. This TOP 3 English Guide will help you with 7
important categories of English. When you aren’t sure what to do next, try one of these tips.
Print out this guide and keep it near where you usually study (or under your pillow for good
English dreams). I can’t wait to help you take your English to the next level!
Your teacher,
Vanessa
2. Watch/listen 2x: When you hear a new word in a YouTube video, pause the video, and
listen to that sentence again. This quick repetition will aide your vocabulary.
3. SRS: Use the “Spaced Repetition System” to carefully repeat words right before you
forget them. I recommend the free phone application “Anki” to start this method.
2. 70%: Focus on material that you already understand 70%. You already understand the
general idea, but you don’t get 30%. It’s easier to pick up 30% than 70%!
3. Dictation: Listen to one or two sentences and try to write them down accurately. When
you’re finished, check your sentences with the subtitles or transcript.
3. Speak loudly: Shout! Hear your own voice speaking English to help you forget fear!

IMPROVE YOUR GRAMMAR
1. Focus on one concept: Keep your mind clear by focusing on one concept each week or
month. Study it and make your own sentences by writing and speaking.
2. Paraphrase: Listen to one or a few sentences, and try to repeat the sentences in your
own words. Change it to the past tense, change the subject, or add new words.
3. Write sentences: You need to create English, not just learn, so don’t forget to write your
own sentences, read them out loud, and use them in your conversations.
2. Focus on two similar sounds: If you want to pronounce the vowels in “seat” and “sit”
differently, focus on similar word pairs like “meat/mitt” and “neat/knit.”
2. Be nice to yourself: You’re human, right? It’s okay to make mistakes. When you make a
mistake, smile or even laugh. This small action will help you be nicer to yourself.
3. Read out loud: When you read out loud, your ears hear your own voice using fluent
grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. It’s a valuable mental connection!
2. Multiple senses: We often just focus on the words of English, but language is more than
that. This is a really interesting video about memorizing with creative pictures.
