Educate for the Future
There are restrictions allocated for the
waste management here in the Philippines
that must be followed. The Philippines has
endeavored to improve its management of
solid waste through the passage of RA
9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste
Management Act that provides for a
systematic, comprehensive and ecological
waste management program to ensure the
protection of public health and the
environment. The DENR has issued that for
solid waste management, the priority
activities are: closure of dumpsites; and (2)
Establishment of Material Recovery
Facilities (MRFS). We learned here that the
goal is to reduce the volume percentage of
at least 70% and through that, I think that
we, people must be really serious about it.
A trip to educate Mapuans was happened last
January 7, 2020 in Tarlac and Subic. The trip was
about waste management plants that revolves to
the segregation and the other one was about
management of wastes.
It was a great opportunity for every Mapuans to at
least go out and showcase the ability to
understand about the situations that is timely
happening right now which is all about waste
management. It was indeed a very prevalent and
rampant issue today that we, community, must do
and imply in barangays to have a better collection
of garbage, in a way that we must be following
rules and regulations strictly.
In the second part of the trip, water treatment in
SubicWaters was really appreciated as we learned
about the equalization, aeration and
sedimentation. We learned about the open
surface and funnel that this would help regarding
the backflowing of the waste water. And lastly, the
duckweed that it helps to reduce the smell of the
waste water.
Overall, it was a great knowledge and experience
to understand more regarding the solid and water
waste management that could help integrate for
the future generation.
