Explore Through Geo Gebra

Specific Objectives:

To understand and apply angle sum property of a triangle.

To understand and apply exterior angle property.

Description: This task is an exploratory task and contains 2 activities based on the use of
geogebra. In activity 1, students will verify angle sum property of a triangle and activity 2 is
based on the verification of exterior angle property.

Execution: Teacher may provide instruction sheets to the students to conduct the activities
in computer laboratory individually by each student. Students should write their
observations and results in the space provided in the instruction sheets.

Congruency of Triangles 1

Specific Objective: To understand various criteria of congruency and to apply these to solve
questions.
Description: Task 1 is a video watch task in which students will watch videos on various
congruency criteria. Task 2 contains questions based on congruency of triangles.

Execution: Teacher may show videos using a projector. A class discussion may be taken by
the teacher for task 1. For task 2, teacher may write the questions on the board and
students may solve these questions in their notebooks. This should be followed by a class
discussion. Students may cross check their answers.

Parameters for Assessment: Able to understand and apply criteria for congruency of two
triangles.

Congruency of Triangles 2

Specific Objective:

To understand that a triangle is possible only if the sum of lengths of its two sides is greater
than the third side.

To understand that angle opposite to longer side of a triangle is larger.

To understand that side opposite to larger angle is longer.

Description: In task 1, students will explore that how many different triangles with integral
sides are possible for a given perimeter using straws of different lengths. In task 2, students
verify that angle opposite to longer side of a triangle is larger and side opposite to larger
angle is longer. Task 3 contains questions based on the concepts learnt in task 1 and 2.

Execution: Teacher may explain the activities for task 1 and 2. Students may perform the
activities and write the observations and results in their laboratory files. For task 3, teacher
may distribute printed sheets. Students may solve the questions in their notebooks. Teacher
may organize a class discussion during which students may check their solutions.

Parameters for Assessment:

Able to understand that a triangle is possible only if the sum of lengths of its two sides is
greater than the third side.
Able to understand that angle opposite to longer side of a triangle is larger.

Able to understand that side opposite to larger angle is longer.
