About Family and Studies

”Hi, Jan. This is my brother, Mike.”

”Hi, Mike. Nice to meet you. You know, Ben, my cousin's name is Mike, also. He's in London
now. My aunt and uncle wanted him to study there. He is my best friend though we speak once a
week.”
”What does he study there?”
”Economics and Political Science...or something like that.”
”Nice.”
”I'd like to go visit that college one day.”
”Maybe we'll go there, Ben. Let me talk with him first and then we can get ready for a trip to
London.”
We'll need to discuss that with our parents, first, but I don't think there will be any problem.”
”Our father is a little more exigent. But there is the two of us against a single man.”
”OK. For me, there is no inconvenient. They know me and my cousin are inseparable. Besides,
our grandmother is there. Keep in touch for the date, then.”
”Sure. We'll be waiting for your call.”

Favorite Season

Hi, Mary. Are you OK?”

”No, I'm not. I hate this snow! When is it going to end?”
”Well, people say that's the last time it snows this winter. I hope they're right.”
”Oh, I want summer!”
”Me, too. In fact, my favorite season is spring. I was born on the 7th of April, so spring is my
season. I love blooming trees.”
”And now they're covered with snow. Spring is nice, but I love summer. I just can't wait
going to the beach in vacation. And those three months seem so far...”
”Hey, cheer up! They will come before you know it!”
”Yeah, I know. It's not that I hate winter. I love snowball fights and sleigh riding, making snowmen...
But it is very cold and icy. I was always afraid of the ice.”
”Me, too. But there is no ice in our yards. How about making a snowman today? We get a little
warmer and we'll be ready for an afternoon in the snow.”
”OK, Laura. But I need to change my clothes first. Meet me in two hours in front of my house.”
”Perfect. I'll be there. I'll bring my hat and two pieces of coal.”
”I'll bring the carrot.”
Take a Cat to the Vet

”Hey, Jana, look! There is a kitten down there.”

”You're right. Let's go to it. Maybe it's hungry.”
”Hello, kitten, what are you doing here? Oh, it licks my hand! How cute you are!”
”It is really sweet. Oh, it meows. I think it needs something to eat.”
”Do you want some yoghurt and a cookie?”
”Look, it licks the cookie!”
”Come on, the yoghurt, too...”
”What pretty eyes you got! And that little nose!”
”I love its fur. Do you want to come with us?”
”I think it can't walk. It has an injured leg. Or maybe it's the paw.”
”You know, Rebecca, I'll take it home to see what mom can do for it. She's a doctor, but maybe she
knows something about animals, too.”
”I hope she does. Let's go.”

Nick: ”Hello, Alice!”

Alice: ”Oh, hi, Nick. How are you?”
Nick: ”I'm OK, thanks. I want you to meet my brother, Sam.”
Alice: ”Hi, Sam. Nice to meet you. I'm Alice, your brother's classmate.”
Sam: ”Nice meeting you, too, Alice. I heard many things about you.”
Alice: ”Oh, really? Good things or bad things?”
Nick: ”Both of them.” (He laughs.)
Alice: ”So, how old are you, Sam?”
Sam: ”I'm 17 years old. I'm in high school.”
Nick: ”He is in the football team. He's their goalkeeper and he's doing really well. Do you want
to go see him playing once?”
Alice: ”Sure. I don't really like football, but I can watch.”
Sam: ”As for me, I enjoy every second I spend on the football field. But, what do you like, Alice?”
Alice: ”Well, let's say... shopping.” (They all laugh.)
Sam: ”What girl doesn't like shopping or ice cream? What else?”
Alice: ”I like reading. I love literature, or rather, poetry.”
Nick: ”You know, Sam, Alice is writing articles for our school magazine. She is really smart.”
Sam: ”We all three are. So, I should go. We need to start training for the Saturday match.”
Alice: ”OK. Then, maybe we'll meet again on Saturday.”
Sam: ”Sure, I'd like to see you two there. Take care of you.”
Nick: ”You too, Sam. Do your best on that field.”
Sam: ”I'll do that. Bye.”
Alice: ”Bye, Sam! (towards Nick) You never said you have a brother.”
Greetings and Health related questions

”Good afternoon, Mr. Smith!”

”Hi, Mark. How are you today?”
”I'm fine, thank you. And you?”
”I'm ok, too. I heard you were sick. Are you feeling better?”
”Yes, I caught cold but I'm fine now. My mom took care of me.”
”I'm very happy to hear that. And your mother, is she all right, too?”
”Yes, she's doing well. In fact, she asked me to say hello for her to Mrs Smith. Could you please
send her our respects?”
”Sure. I'll tell her you asked. You have our home number, right? I remember my wife telling me she
needed to have a chat with your mother these days.”
”Yes. I'll tell my mom to give her a call when I get home.”
”OK. That's perfect. Send her my best wishes. I need to go now, Mark. We have a meeting.”
”Well, good luck! And have a good day, sir.”
”You too, Mark. Bye.”
