What is Emerging technologies?

Emerging technologies are technologies whose development, practical applications, or both are still
largely unrealized, such that they are figuratively emerging into prominence from a background of
nonexistence or obscurity. These technologies are new, such as various applications of biotechnology
including gene therapy (which date to circa 1990 but even today have large undeveloped potential).
Emerging technologies are often perceived as capable of changing the status quo.

Characteristics of Emerging technologies

 Not defined by newness;

Before there were already existing product but they upgrade or need to improve the product for
the better.

 Coming into being;

To start to exist or come into existence.

 Not-yet fully understood or researched;

There is an existing but it is not yet familiar to majority.

 Unfulfilled but promising potential;

Show sign that is going to be successful.

List of examples of Emerging Technologies

Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the sub intelligence exhibited by machines or software, and the branch
of computer science that develops machines and software with animal-like intelligence.
3D printing
3D printing is when 3D solid objects are made from a model on a computer. 3D printing is done by
building up the object layer by layer. Usually, 3D printers use plastic, because it is easier to use and
cheaper. Some 3D printers can 3D print with other materials, like metals and ceramics.
Gene therapy
Gene therapy is the addition of new genes to a patient's cells to replace missing or
malfunctioning genes. Researchers typically do this using a virus to carry the genetic cargo into cells,
because that's what viruses evolved to do with their own genetic material

Cancer vaccines .
They stimulate the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells that have these molecules on
their surface. Most cancer vaccines also contain adjuvants, which are substances that may help
strengthen the immune response. Some cancer vaccines are made for individual patients.

In vitro meat
In vitro meat, also called cultured meat, clean meat, cruelty-free meat, shmeat, and test-tube meat, is
an animal-flesh product that has never been part of a living animal with exception of the fetal calf
serum taken from a slaughtered cow

Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is a part of science and technology about the control of matter on the atomic and
molecular scale - this means things that are about 100 nanometres across. Nanotechnology includes
making products that use parts this small, such as electronic devices, catalysts, sensors, etc.
Robotics
Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and
application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information
processing.
